Lots of interesting stuff........also interesting is when everyone started.
I forgot to mention that I "flew" my Heli~Baby with a Kraft Sport Series radio....the one with the Yellow~Gold colored servos..metal case TX same color......It was a great radio system, I crashed that system ...dare I say it?..In more than a few planks before it went into the Schluter.........

After an....ah..... extended break... I came back with the Nexus, still have it as well. I was trying to "shoe~horn" it into a Bell 222 that I have. The 222 originally had a Concept in it. The Nexus is a bit "tall" to go into the Bell. I have since picked up a couple of Concepts and "some day" will refit one into the 222 and fly it that way.......there is a pic of the 222 in my gallery if anyone wants to have a look...

American R/C Mantis... it ROCKED... nah not really

Bought an American R/C Mantis back in the late 70's. By today's standards it was a huge piece of crap. Started out with an OS 40FSR airplane engine, wood side frames and plank style radio hardware. The starting belt was held together with 2 eye hooks. It started out wood and then they came out with plastic side frames which I upgraded to. A local friend/heli flyer who flew a Heli-Boy checked it out for me and showed me that it could fly. I could not get the thing to hover. The old OS 40FSR would go to full throttle if the linkage would come disconnected so as you can guess that's what happened. Went to full throttle while I was attempting to hover it. Was the last time I attempted to fly it.

In 1987 a friend came back from Japan with a Baron 50. It sat at his house half completed for over a yr. After pestering him for months he finally let me have it to finish it and get it into the air. It was a very stable hovering machine. I basically learned to hover on someone else's dime. Went out and bought a Shuttle XX for myself and have been flying on and off ever since.

must go faster, must go faster.........

Schluter-Hegi Cobra was my first RC heli in 1972, A huge model with fixed blade pitch. Had a Veco 61 in it. Painted it up in Army green with the shark mounth on the chin. Used the big tripod landing gear that came with the kit and learned to hover with it. Never flew it forward flight. Had no place to put into flight at the time. Sold the heli a year later.

Venture

First heli was a JR venture.. Smashed it three times and 1.5 years later I still have it and it still flys pretty well.. Goes out of track easily, apart from that, not a bad one to learn on..
