How can I install a governor in a gas engine. Does the magnets interfere with the engine's ignition system?

Use a gv1 with "Stator Gators" sensor, it plugs into the kill wire. no magnets, just plug and fly.

This shows how I used the magnets in the flywheel of the G23 to trigger the Futaba GV-1 govenor. It works great and was much easier to install than trying to install magnets in the fan. It doesn't cost any more either.

For ease of installation, see the stator gator as mentioned.
