Brushless setup on the ECO 8

I hope you had better luck than I did!

My Eco 8 with a Ikarus Brushless motor and Schultze Controller was a disaster as far as flight time was concerned. I tried everything and only got about 6 minutes or so. Forward flight was even worse (you have to go up and down), unless you can stay at the same altitude!

The Eco 8 is also very flimsy in its design. Parts are not very durable and wear out fast. The upgrades cost a small fortune. You can only upgrade so much.

I ended up selling mine on EBAY for half price. Now with the higher battery capacity I would think that you could get at least 10 minutes of hover out of a decent battery.

Good luck,

Michael

Brushless setup on the ECO 8

Hi, I am flying ECO8 for years with mega 22/20/3 (similar to plettenberg 22/20/3) controler Schulze 45He on 10 cells (1650g). Pinions 14-16 (currently using a 16t). The rotor head speed is about 1600 rpm in "const. rotor speed" mode at 80%. The heli is agile, it is able to fly a roll, loop, invert but just for about 5-6 minutes with Sanyo 1700 SCR.

I think that on 10 cells (my current limit) ECO8 will never be a "power performer", it is more for relax and fun

I flew my Eco - 8 with Aveox 1010/3, Kontronik 25-6-12SLB ESC and 10 cells. Got around 10minutes of flying time but very poor power. Like "hpilotrc" I was happy to sell it and now I fly a Logo 20. Realy no comparision to the Eco-8...

My eco 8 had the Ikarus X250 4h Brushless and V45 setup
with 10 2400 cells, In steady forward flight I could get 10 mins out of it!
but managed less when preforming loops rolls etc.
like the others mentioned I too have sold up, I now fly Eolo and logo 10

Hello

It depends on how much you want to spend and how you want to fly.

If you want a good economical brushelss setup then get a Mega 22-20-3 with a 16 tooth pinon on 10 cells. This setup will have quite a bit of pep but the price will be reasonable.

I have used a Hacker B50-11L(with a 14-15 tooth pinion) in an Eco 8 and that motor had lots of power and made my Eco climb extreamly fast. This is a good motor if you want lots of power with 10 cells.

I have read that the Lehner basic 2400XL is also a really good motor on 10 cell. From what I have read it offers insaine power.

With all of these setups make sure you have thrust bearing in the grips.

where would you get these bearings and do you have a part number- do they work on the upgraded aluminum head?

Hello all,

what about a fun 600-15 drive set with smile 40-6-18. It has 1500 RPM/V and works up to 40A continously with the smile. If somebody is interested in this one, i have it for sale, because i want to experiment with a LRK.

It worked great on my Logo 10 and its about the same size than a Eco 8.

My Eco-8 is setup with a Mega 22/20/3H motor with a 15-tooth pinion and a Castle Creations Phoenix-45 ESC. I use 10-cell Sanyo 2400 SCR packs and it has very nice power. More than enough power for loops, rolls, tornados, inverted, etc. It flys for about 7.5 mins on this setup.

Definitely an economical setup. Going to this brushless motor increased the flight times 2.5 mins over the 5 mins when using the Magnetic Mayhem brushed motor.

i notice alot of people use 2400 batt packs and not the 3000 or the 3300 nickle metals is there a reason for this most who have logos or eolo use them is there a reason

Hoverking,
Depending on the application (i.e. current draw) the 3000 and 3300 NiMh cells simply do not deliver their rated capacity. I'm not sure what the threshold is current wise, but it seems that most folks get just as much flying time out of 2400 SCRs or HR-SC2600 as out of the GP3300 in Logo 10s for example. And, the 2400 SCR or HR-SC2600's perform better during that flying time.

I really liked my RC3000HV from SANYO in my Logo 10. They had great flight time. (little more than 9 minutes)

I might wanna get GP 3300's the next time...
