Hi Guys

Is anyone using one of these in their MK " Millie. Ive been using OS in my other heli's and heard these are cracking engines so I'd like to give one a go.

As long as it will fit okay that is.

Cheers

You just need a different "sleeved nut" for the YS, and despite pressure to Robbe for several years, they still don't have one. Ron Lund at Ricks (www.ronlund.com) does have them. He drills/taps the 1/4" ones to go on the YS cranks (8mm if I remember correctly).

Yes, gotta love that 'customer responsiveness'
from Robbe.

It must be extremely difficult to machine a nut.

Hey I know, lets take our two most popular
machines and cancel them!

I think it's a german thing. They don't use YS's, so why would anyone else?

Here's why

The europeans traditionally use much less nitro, and they like their tuned pipes. I could be all wet, but Im under the impression the YS runs on only 30%, and that it is best run on a muffler.

But your biggest issue is the new soft tanks. Totally doable, but I keep a spare tank handy. They puff up pretty good. While on the tank topic, you also have to trim the flashing off the tank bottle neck as they come all jagged and won't seal the higher pressure. Don't trim too much or you'll be shopping for an oring to put in the cap. I also use a piece of rubber between the tank and the frame bolt under it (frame bolt replaces the plastic frame spacer.

with the "new and improved" soft tanks (no I don't like them either), I liminate the plastic piece at the rear, eliminate the center 4mm bolt, and use an extra steel tube (like the boom braces screw into). I then use two of the carbon landing gear reinforcements on bottom, and one up front.

I do almost the same thing.

I have also done one additional mod on one of my Milles.

I use a 500cc rectangular tank (like the Intrepid used) I pull out the plastic bulkhead above the tank and install two of the cross braces like you mentioned in your post, but in the holes above the normal position (servo mounting holes)

I can then slide the Intrepid style tank in from the back and remove it without doing anything to the frames. (I sandwitch it in foam like we used to on the old Intrepid.)

This tank doesn't have the protrusion on the front like the Robbe tank and allows the use of a one piece motor mount, which I think improves the rigidity.

Thanks for the input. Mark and Gary are you using a steel tube between the frames? I am having difficulty understanding where you are using it. If you use the servo location are you then boom mounting the tail servo? Are you talking of the frame brace sold by BJ in England or individual carbon reinforcements front and rear? Sorry for all the questions guys but I am rebuilding an older Milli 1 and have a new Futura SE in the box and I want to build them up right. Thanks, Marlon
