I plan on glassing a pair of wood blades. I was planning on using one layer of 1/2 ounce and vacuum bag them. Obviously I'd take the shrink wrap off first.

Does anyone have experience with this? It's got to be better than the shrink wrap!

Is 1/2 ounce enough? I figure the strength is already in the wood structure, and the glass is mainly to protect the plades, and add a little as a stiffiner.

I'd appreciate any advise.

Thanks!

1/2 oz may be a little hard to deal with as keeping the "lay" straight is tough. No need to bag IMHP just apply the resin to the blade is a thin coat then set the LE on a piece of cloth role to each side and pull gently at the TE, If your going "over" the grips sand them thinner and the cloth will make up the difference. I have used 1/2 oz but prefer 2 oz (some small slits around the root and the tip will let it "tailor" to the shape. Using your fingers (inside rubber gloves) stroke the blade to "wet" out the cloth. carefully apply a little resin to "dry" spots then apply "cling" wrap all over and use a squeegee to smooth it out. after you do a few then get some "V" blades and be done with it

.25 / quarter oz "fine" cloth is the way to go, if you plan on clear coat or paint it on .. 1/2 is alittle too much plus it has more surface texture to fill ..

Neat project but unless you have a Koll balancer you're just asking for trouble.

Why not just call Cyberheli and get a set of Sab's for about $35 bucks.

I haven't tried that yet. Doesn't it hurt? Don't forget the mold release dude!

You will have so many pin wholes. Plus it would be hard for you to apply it. You might as well just use fiberglass clothe for vblades or get those sab's. I use sabs and they are good.

This would make the blade stronger and smother, but it would be fustrating and not worth it.
