Vario Sky Fox - Benzin - Evolution - Xtreme > THOUGHTS ON THE VARIO LONGRANGER

Hi guys,

I'm in the market for a Jetranger/Longranger project, and was going to go with a discontinued (Kalt large size Jetranger) kit that a friend is trying to unload, but after reading mostly negitive responces from a resurch thread I did on it, I started looking into alternitive kits.

subsiquint resurch has narowed my choices down to the new Groupner Jetranger, or the Vario Jetranger or the Vario Longranger.

I'm tending to lean towared the Longranger, mostly because I really like the winglets, and the longer fuse, to me it makes it look more eligent.

So, please chime in with your thoughts/opinions, good bad or whatever

regards, Scott Reed

i have a vario longranger. its pretty nice but if this is your first scale heli you're in for a challenge. it's fairly straightforward, but the biggest mistake i made was making the doors open. LOTS of work. the cockpit doesn't fit worth **** either. i guess it depends on how far you want to go with detail. but vario fuses are the best quality from what i've seen and this one isn't very expensive at all. still glad i bought it

The Vario Jet and Longrangers are both nice. I'd go for the ones that are made for the Sky Fox or Extreme mechs. The quality of their mechs and bodies is superb!!

You'll enjoy either the Jet or Long Rangers.

Chris, you lost me !

so, are you saying, there's more then one version of the longranger ?.
meaning, one mould for the skyfox, another for the extreme, etc. etc. ?.
or, one mould, with different wood kits, for the different style mechanics ?.

Jet OR Long Ranger

two different fuses.....the wood sets are what makes them compatable for different mechanics. Check out Vario USA's web site.....it will make sense then. James

been there many times

hi james,

yeah I have that site bookmarked, and go there almost everyday, but the only kit I'v ever seen is the 5006 kit for skyfox mechanics, and frankly, i'm not sure it will matter in the end, as i'll be installing Hirobo mechanics, and am sure i'll have to have Joshef help me out with the woodkit parts.

I'v been talking to Doug Bruns about his longranger, have you guys seen this one ?, red/white?blue SWEET, anyway, i'm trying to weigh the difference in converting his for my mechanics, verses starting one from scratch. i'm really looking for a relitivly quick project to get in the air, so to have a scaler to fly while work continues on my Dauphin (gonna be a while still).
