Excellent! I have a Voyager on order through Horizon. I think it will be a bit different version from yours. Where did you order from and how much was the kit?

I'd strongly urge you to put spiral wrap or so
on the wires where they pass by an edge of CF.

The CF will cut the wires easily.

Pictures of my Voyager 50 IMZ

I bought it at ishiimokei.com. It's a Japanese mailorder RC place. Their prices are great and they are very reliable and nice. It costs 58000 Yen.(@130 Yen/$ that's $446....but you have to pay a 12% adder for using a credit card and then shipping is about $100 for a total price of $600!) You can get it with the IMZ engine and muffler for Y89000. I bought the engine mount for the OS50 separately because the IMZ is a little too expensive for me. What's great is that they send using Japanese EMS and it only takes about 5 - 7 business days before you get it! They may have to order it for you, although I think they stock all of the kits.

I'd rather buy it in the US.....but it's not available so Japan or some other overseas shop is your only option!

I bought the aluminum boom holders and the bottom carbon reinforcement plate. I have also ordered the KSJ double hold tail pitch lever because the tail lever doesn't have bearings....which is hard to believe for a high end machine like this! There are bearings everywhere else though and you get a full-metal head!(and yes it has thrust bearings and a 6mm spindle instead of 5mm as is stock in the Ergo/Voyager line) One other really neat item is the split gear. I think this is the first split gear JR has ever offered.(The new Sylphide 90 will have one also, but it's not due out until spring this year) They use the HG auto hub which has two regular bearings top and bottom and a large torrington.(As opposed to only a one-way bearing and two bushings like the XCell and Sceadu have) The gears are machined and super-smooth.

I don't know whether it will be offered in the US. Horizon doesn't import the whole JR heli line. In Japan they have many more models than we do in the US.(for example Ergo 50 type 2 reg and CCPM, Ergo 53 4-Stroke, Ergo 70 type 2 4-stroke reg and CCPM, Ergo 60 FAI, Ergo 60 FAI CCPM, Kazuyuki Special Superio, Sylphide 90, Voyager 30/50/gasser, Venture 60, Venture 30 etc.) I think the Voyager 50 IMZ is the best value high-end 50 available today. I wish Horizon would import, and sell at a reasonable price, a few more of these kits.

I heard the Voyager is in fact coming to the U.S. is this not the case? I'd like a .50 size chopper and pretty much decided on the Voyager once I heard it would be arriving to our shores soon.

Anyone have the scoop on this?

Thanks,
Jits

They are only importing in the jr voyager 50 not the jr voyager 50 IMZ the two are totally different heli. If I am not wrong only the IMZ version has a carbon frame and a full metal rotor head while the voyager 50 has a metal frame and a half metal half plastic rotor head.

If you look at the control system there is a big differents there to. The IMZhas pull pull ccpm well the Us model is direct to the swash plate from the servo. Also I am not sure but so far the IMZ has the metal tail box and other goodies the US VIR. will not come with. Steve Gray has a V 50 and there is alot more plastic on it. It is a great heli (very fast and 3d able) and shares alot of parts from the ergo line. Glad to see they changed the canopy to the mini vigor one alot better looking now.

You guys are right, the Voyager 50 IMZ has p/p ccpm, carbon frames, full metal head etc. The standard Voyager 50 is what Horizon is importing.(except it will have the Vigor look canopy)

Anyone know if the carbon frames and that other stuff will be available as upgrades to the base Voyager model we're getting?

Thanks,

Can you dig up the part numbers for the aluminum boom holder and the carbon bottom plate. And heck if you can the KJS tail pitch lever. It sounds like you did it up right. Im in the process of trying to run down a kit. ishiimokei is not answering their email but I have another outlet working on a kit. Their out of stock right now for about a week. They asked me if I could get the other part number for the extra items. Thanks alot.

Rick,

Here are the part numbers:

60843 - Carbon bottom plate
60778 - HG Tail holder
KSJ 689 - Double Hold Tail Pitch Lever

If you don't use the IMZ engine you also need:

60627 - Motor Mount for the OS 50.
HAT-506 - Hatori 50-size muffler for the OS 50.

You'll love the heli! Use a GV-1 and GY-401 for best results. Remember that the instructions are just Japanese....but the drawings are certainly enough if this isn't your first kit.(the head is 100% pre-built and there was grease, although not much, in the thrust bearings!) One thing to look out for though, on step 2-3 the front frame divider is shown backwards. If you don't notice the addendum...which is in Japanese...it won't be until much later that you'll figure out your mistake and then it's a long way back to fix it!(there is a corrected drawing on the addendum)

FYI....it takes ishiimokei a few days sometimes to answer their E-Mail.

Jits,

The frame set-up for the Voyager 50 IMZ is significantly different from the standard Voyager. I don't think you can use them without major modifications.

The good news is that JR does make a carbon frame upgrade for the Voyager 30 and 50. It's JR part number 60759. It includes the two sideframes and the tank frames. I doubt it's available in the US though. I'm sure Horizon would get it for you if you asked.......problem is Japanese carbon parts are very expensive for some reason and you'd probably be looking at almost $300!!

FYI....for you Ergo CCPM fliers, there is also a carbon frame set for that heli, part number 60477. Top and bottom are also available separately.....however I think you need a new frame spacer set to make it work since the carbon frames are so much thicker than the aluminum.

Thanks Florian

I have a IMZ RV50 sitting here looking for a heli to power. Thanks for the tip on the instruction error, as I thought it would be written in Japanese. As far as a Gyro I have a 5000T, I own 3 and they work excellent for me. I was thinking about a GV-1. I installed one on my Vigor CS with an YS.80 but the weather has not been cooperating to fly it to see if it’s finally setup correctly and also to see if I like it. Are you using 600mm blades? What’s the root 12 or 14mm?

Florian,

Are you serius! 300 bucks for carbon frames for the Voy?

My friend bought his set for (I think it was) around 80-100 bucks here.. (In sweden) and yes, it was JR.

Getting Disgusted

What a pain to wait for emails to try and purchase a IMZ overseas. Cybeheli has answered my mail but Stephen has not replied if he can get the additional items. (Alum. boom holder, Carbon plate, and the tail pitch lever). The other outfit ishiimokei has not answered 3 emails sent to them. This makes the US version look better and better all the time. It makes me wonder incase of a crash how long it would take for replacement parts to arrive. I sent the first email 4 days ago to ishiimokei and have not received a single reply. That's plain bad business. Stephen is prompt even though he is sick at the moment. I will wait a few more days to see if cyberheli answers me if he can get the additional upgrade items I wrote about. As far as ishiimokei goes. I have no faith in their business at this point. Maybe I should of wrote in Japanese. This maybe a lesson to me for trying to buy outside the good oh USA.
