I have just ordered a Piccolo Pro with piccoboard pro (yeah yeah, I know but I'm on a budget ) I'd rather keep it reasonably cheap so I won't be upgrading it too much but I will be fitting a TOEM motor.

Has anyone tried this? What pinion/ votage are you running?

Thanks

John

I think you will be under powered, and will be giving that poor little motor a real hard time

The Orion will work fine in a Pro, its more powerful than the stock motor but although slightly more expensive (depends on the price of the orion) a brushless is a better option since you increase duration and significantly increase performance. I high powered brushless setuo tuned for the pro is going to cost £99 with a controller opposed to £40 for only the Orion motor, performance is considerably different.

I gather this motor needs to be mounted without the platic mount (the shaft is much shorter than that on the 410)?

Will a 9 cell NiMh battery be ok or will this fry the li'l motor?

Any suggestions on pinion?

Thaks for all your help

In fact the main purpose of the fan.mount is to ensure a standard can motor can fit without a major redesign. This shouldn't be added with the Orion.

You will find that the shaft is on the short side and will need a metal pinion to get any sort of mesh, you can get an aftermarket gear that will work.

Well this is debateable but heres a definate no no first. Do NOT run the orion with more than an 8 cell pack, its going to be money down the drain as the poor motor which was selected for 6 cell operation won't last long.

To get good power you will need a 9T pinion but this is stressing the motor and it will more than likely bog down. Try with the 8 first and see if your happy with the performance.

The Orion is a much better fit in an FP Piccolo on 7 cells than in a Pro. Your asking a lot of this motor in your config.

I tried the Orion in my pro, and it would bog so badly under full pitch iut would almost fall out of the air.

I wouldn't waste the money on it.

On the other had though, it flew my FP pic beautifully.
