Tools and Field Equipment > Pitch Guage Recommendation ?

I'm looking at buying a new pitch guage because the one I have is not very accurate. I've seen a few posts talking about the Robart guage being good but I'd like to get a general opinion if possible.

What is the best guage to buy for value and precision ?

Which ones should you stay away from ?

Thanks !

I can not say which is better – I only know the JR one but think about this. The pitch gauge is there to set it up as a starting point. For example I use a GV-1 and when I hover I set my 3810 radio to the pitch screen and have a friend tell me what the stick position is when I hover. On the 3810 you have 2 figures IN and OUT this will tell you what the stick position and curve position is. Now you can adjust the curve to suit your needs. (Get the stick to centre point for example) Then I go to stunt 2 (-10, 0, 10 degrees) hover right way up punch look/listen at performance adjust and the same but starting in an inverted hover. Then usually if I do for example a rolling circle I can hear the motor sagging so I take a little pitch of. Remember if you have pitch and cyclic it is a higher load on the motor than just pitch.

So I am trying to say that the accuracy of the pitch gage is important but not as much as you might think

You're right nocontrol. I usually end up tweaking the pitch anyway once I've flown it a bit so I guess what I have is fine. As long as it gets me into the ball park .

The vario pitch gauge is the best because it has a built in bubble level.

I like my JR but like everyone said its only for initial setup after I get to the field I go by sound to make final adjustment.

Jag, it is made out of cheap posicle sticks, or lollie sticks, it's what frozen or non-frozen candy comes on, then you eat the candy, keep the sticks. And if you are not into candy, go to a arts and crafts store, they sell them for like 200 sticks for $0.50.

Does the protractor move freely? Like is it on a pito with the screw?
