Hey Guys,
This week has been a real bummer. My Hirobo Shuttle ZXX tipped over on landing last weekend and smashed up the entire rotor head. I immediately ordered new parts ofcourse - I got 'em yesterday in the mail. It wasn't too bad - only cost around $40 to fix. I finally installed everything and fixed it up new when I decided to go try it out today. I got to the field and huriedly check everything out. I was all pumped out to go flying for the first time this week , but then I went to start the engine...... this is where it gets messy. I have one of those hex starter wands that just stick into the rubber insert on a starter, and, naturaly, the damned thing flies off and SMASHES up my NEW head mechanics!!! Can you believe that luck?! Now I have to wait another week for all new meachanics for the 2nd time!

Doesn't anyone manufacture starter wands that would just bolt on to the starter's shaft??

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.. don't ever rush to go and fly.. you'll always ends up disappointing yourself and costly for parts. Takes time.. you'll have plenty of time to play around summer just got here.. sheesh. .

As for the bolt on type JR and KSJ and a few other might have them.. check out Ricks helicopter site. Pagae starting system.

JR makes one that bolts right on the starter shaft. That's the one I use. An even better one is made by Vario and it has a built in one way bearing so the engine won't die because it's also pulling the starter.

I also noticed that with those rubber inserts the shaft often goes flying, and usually vibrates pretty bad ... Never used it. That's why I bought a "real" heli starter.

There a trick to keep that wand from flying out though. I know on the Thunder Tiger wand there is 2 groves.. If you can find 2 "O" rings fixed in there wand shouldn't be flying out. Also remember to keep your starter up right when engaging your starter as well that will also prevents it from flying out. best way is the bolt on type.

I'm more worried about my rotor head getting hit than MY head....... What do you think - maybe I should get a rotorHEAD helmet?! heheheheh that would be great......

this might sound real evil, but a good rotor head breaking is kinda nice sometimes - I finally have the excuse i was looking for to buy metal parts insted of the little plastic ones...... LOL
