Engines Plugs Mufflers Fuel > Cutris muscle pipe...Problem

I just got the Curtis muscle pipe in this friday and upon removal it had 2 large dents in it. I called the Co. that I bought it from and they were out of stock so I have to call Horizon hobby today to see if I can get a replacement sent to me. My question is how many of you have had this problem with this pipe? It looks like they were playing football with it..and how bad do the dents hamper performance on a tuned pipe? Thanks Jeff.

Dents won't affect the funtionality of the pipe unless they appreciably change the the volume of the chamber. If the dents are just due to rough handling, then it's probably OK to use. If it had a forklift driven over it, that would be different matter.

You can get small dents out by filling the pipe with water and putting it in the freezer. Just monitor it regularly, since you can easily burst it. I've done this quite successfully , including the bursting. In one case the pipe was squashed flat due to a particularly well-executed crash.

Jeff,

I had the same thing happen. I received the mp and it had some dents. I called the place were I bought it from and they said I would have to call Horizon and have them replace it. The place where I bought it from would not exhange it for a new one! They did have plenty to swap out but since it came that way and it was not damaged in shipping. I had to go through Horizon for a replacement. Well, this took about 3 1/2 weeks to get a mp from my original order and waiting for Horizon to send me a new one. I made Horizion physically open the mp package and make sure it was okay.
Since I could not wait for the mp to be replaced I ordered it from GR8 and had it in three days. I guess should have ordered from them in the first place.

Oh Well,
JT

Thanks

Thanks.... I know about the freezing trick from my Dirtbike days! that is a good way to get the dents out....But.... I am not trying to be a butthead about it....... however the pipe that is displayed along with the part number does not have any dents on it so that's not what I ordered...And I don’t want to do any fixing to it as it would void everything...it just pisses me off...we pay 100.00 for this kit and I just do see how they could have missed this dent....I am a Maintenance Mgr. for a manufacturing company so I do know the problems that come with manufacturing products. Pushing the workers just to meet a quota is not the best way to promote a product if there are obvious problems. So we will see how long I have to wait for something that should have arrived in usable shape. I have half a midnf to send it back and contest the charges. but I will see. Thanks Jeff.

Guys,

Who did you order it from? That's who should be held accountable! The shop you bought it from should have sent you a NEW pipe, in NEW condition. If they recieved it from Horizion that way then they should have sent it back to Horizion. Not you.

When you buy a car from a dealer and it has a problem do you send it back to the manufacture for repair? NO!

Tell us who these dirty rotten shop owners are so that they can be exposed for the fraud they are doing to you and to others.

OK, stepping off my soapbox.

Again

Well the replacement pipe was not here today...big suprise...All I got was an e-mail saying that they will send me something so that I wont have to pay for shipping on the return of the pipe and that they will ship it out nextday once they inspect it....So I am sending the whole thing back to them Tomorrow and contesting charges..If two big RC outfits cant get this together than they can have it. Too little too latetoob bad, I was looking farward to trying out that pipe! I will just order from Century...Never had a problem with them. Jeff.

Jeff,

Give Steve a call at GR8 and see if he has a MP. He will check it for you before he sends it out!
