Just looking to take my flying to the next level and I wanted to get a second heli. Still being fairly new to the hobby , I have been looking at these two birds.

Which one is better engineered as far as parts go and which gives the less headaches with parts failing etc

Yeah I did come across your page and had a good read. The Raptor 60 is growing on me. But I also like the Sceadu. I am just after which one will allow me to develop and mature with my skills.

Which one in your optinon flies better ??

The Sceadu 50 is such a power hound that you can really have fun with it. The R 60 teaches you more finesseing.

I'm just about done putting my Sceadu 50 together. So far, so good. It went together a bit faster than the R60 but that's to be expected. Hirobo did a better job than TT in the instruction manual and set up instructions. TT probably figures if you're building a 60 you should already know what you're doing. It's still nice though to have some set up suggestions. After all it's their heli so they should know best how to make it perform.

The only thing I can criticize so far on the Sceadu is there is no one way bearing on the start shaft like the R60 has. It also seems the R60 has a bit tighter control linkage but not by much. Ken is right though, the Sceadu can be thrown around more since it's power to weight ration is much better. Don't get me wrong though, the R60 ith an OS61 has plenty of power but you still have to fly it. You can't trust that excess power to be there to help you get out of a dumb situation.

I like both. I'm happy to be an owner of both the R60 and the Sceadu. I think they will compliment one another in my flying stable. Each will have it's own place to do the things I want to do. After i start flying the sceadu I'll let you know more. Now if the good weather would return It went from 70 degrees this weekend to 10 degrees with snow/ice/sleet in one day....sheesh. And more on the way this weekend The r/c heli god must think I'm having too much fun.

OK....I got home this evening and set the pitch and throttle curves on the Sceadu. Then I couldn't wait, I had to go hover it.

WOW

This is one performing machine. The R60 is very stable in hover and needs some positve input to move it (which is good) But the Sceadu.....you just think about moving it and it goes there. Mind you I am not complaining but it is definitely a world of difference. There was NO vibration or shaking. the FRP blades required no balancing and the heli was very SMOOOOOTH. The Sceadu is going to be a rocketship and I've only got a 46 in it. Comparing it to something like a Nexus is like comparing a tricycle to a Ferrari. The Sceadu is the Ferrari!

If you have limited experience and don't feel ready for a precise moving machine then get the R60. If you want a nimble, lithe hotrod then get the Sceadu. I can't wait to get this thing into forward flight and aerobatics.

Are the two birds really that different out of the box.
My experience is quite limited in that I am only just getting nose in and forward flight out of my shuttle.

But I am still weighing up each heli. I have some lessons booked next week to progress my skills , I hope. Perhaps then I can decide.

What will each machine give me would be my next question.

Do I want all the power from the sceadu to help me develop or is the raptor power with a little forgiving .

I have flown the millenium on the flight sim and love the response it gives compared to the shuttle flight model, but how this in the real world I dont know. But I seem to fly responsive one better as there is very little input.

I suppose I am confused as such because I dont want to get something now and spend £600 quid to find I wanted the other model

Cheers
