This available from Helikraft and includes shipping ...

Raptor 50 V2 4851-K10 kit + OS50 SX-H(R) engine + header tank + autorotation tail pulley + 49BB + carbon base plate + metal swash plate + NHP 600 mm Carbon Blades and shipping included at USD $530.00. = £319.00 ...

and

TT4851K Raptor 50 V2 £299.00, as advertised in a U.K. model shop and only includes the kit ? if it included the parts from Helikraft, it would cost a lot more ...

Even if you paid duties it still a LOT cheaper

So why do we pay more ?

This must be hitting the UK model trade,

indeed, it must be hitting them
but dont forget youll still need spares for that rap so it isnt all bad news.
i looked into it, the hobby trade makes very little ie jr10x bought for 700 and sold for 850. this looks good but how many 10x are they going to sell. also they pay vat on their £150 profit so they make more like 125.

it must be the distributors who are milking it, macgregors in the uk being the prime example. the problem is they dont sell much but the boss probably wants to have a gross profit of 500000 so his margin is going to be like 33% as oposed to 10% normally for distributors. i very much doubt macgregors are working on 10%

anyway i suppose the grey market is hitting the distributors more as they make more, this inturn keeps prices high as the boss still wants to make 500000......

I think most people over here suffer with the prices. I've ended up buying a kit from here, but when it comes to things like a new gyro or any hardware then they'll be on the next banana boat from Japan or wherever. America is just one HUGE island that loves the rc community and offer them prices that no one would turn down, here they make you suffer for playing with dangerous toys so they charge you an arm and a leg. !

The fuel eats away at your wallet too!

Well if one comes over to the uk with a cheap ryan air flight the trip by bus to london (one way!) will cost more than the flight germany/uk/germany ... it's not only r/c stuff ...

Its not just the far east that offer these prices, ricks rc are selling at competitve prices too, go the main page click on radio prices, you then get an e-mail back with the special offers, I like ricks always top service and very affordable prices unlike here in the UK and even if the Dollar was 1.5 a £ it would be a massive saving, eg 8231 servo 72 US dollars good eh!!

Talking about prices, a mate bought a GY401 gyro from a funfly yesterday for £110 they usely retail at about £140 that means that the gyro must cost alot less than £110. You work the rest out from here. Now whos making the money?

You should be GLAD

to pay that extra.

Here is why: In England everybody gets medical treatment and prescriptions. In America, many people die because they have no insurance or money to buy drugs.

If you was to get in a car wreck or get a disease, at least you won't lose your home and everything when the hospital sues you for extra high charges because you don't have insurance. There are over 70 million people with no insurance in America. They can't get medical care like you can.

Please don't take me wrong, I would not like paying more, but since I have had 3 heart surgeries I know how the medical profession can get blood out of a turnip.

That's a lot of socialist bull. Contrary to all this propaganda, health care in the U.S. is available to all even to all the illegals that are here. If there was widespread denial of healthcare there would be such an outcry that the government would surely respond. Not to mention all the social unrest that it would create. The truth is there are some of people here in the U.S. that would like see the govenment and their party (guess who) control a major of portion of the U.S. economy. It's not about health care, it's about POLITICAL POWER. He is right about one thing be glad that you are paying for all that outrageous taxes otherwise you won't get all those "freebies" that your socialist government provides. But then again it's not really free is it? MONEY DOESN'T GROW ON TREES.

I disagree.

I happen to work for the State Gov't in social services. I see people, virtually EVERY day that cannot get medicine for parkinson's disease, mental diseases, etc. Then there are people, mostly elderly, that choose between food and medicine every month. Some cannot take the medicine as prescribed, no way.

Politics may be a factor. All I can tell is what I see.

I could go into citing the troubles being declared disabled by the social security office, the waiting period, etc, etc.

I agree with you, that the money has to come from somewhere. Paying for it isn't very pleasant, but neither is not being able to get medicine or procedures.

Trust me, media filters most of it out. It has to be, I see it, it is there.

Anyway, I don't want to argue. Lets just say we both are right and wrong depending on how you want to look at it.

Heliman get off your horse, I have no sympathy for people who don't get a good education for whatever reason and can't afford health care.

You have no idea what its like to live in the U.K. and by the way we are talking about helicopters

I feel for the people in the UK who are constantly getting raped by taxes for TV, driving on the Road, etc.

Try paying $7 a gallon for gas

dhollein,

Here, here, brother!

I am not completely cold hearted (I'd like to think that it's SLIGHTLY warmer than, say, Darth Vader! ), but as far as I'm concerned if you are able to stand in line to get your welfare check and food stamps, then you are able to do some form of productive work. The first step is to get close the borders and get rid of the illegal alien problem and then those menial labor jobs would be available to OUR poor instead of Mexico's poor.

Anyway, if you live in England or most of Europe and you want to know why you pay so much for you toys, look no farther than your socialist government. While you are working hard for the "good life" your own government is robbing you blind. Think about that the next time you go to your polls.
