hello,
if you have crashed, i beg you to answer this question. i have a raptor on the way and just to make me not crash i want to know what it feels like to crash a helicopter. i want to know how guilty i will feel. i believe that when i see this beautiful machine complete and functional that if i crash, my sensitivity level will top the charts, you will see this look on myself . and if i crash someone elses then my facial expression will change to a . so never let me hold your controller.

Crashing is just part of the sport. After the first one and you realize its not a big deal most of the time. Put on new blades, boom and a few other parts and you are ready to go again.

DUDE. the more you think your going to crash, the more likely you are. You have to be in the right frame of mind before flying a heli. The kind of state of mind where you are EXPECTING TO ENJOY yourself flying.

If you're loading up the heli to get to the field with a feeling of impending DOOM stay home... you're gonna dork it!!

How you reach the desired state is different for each individual.... you need to figure out how to "get in the zone"

sim time helps!!

What are you going to feel like when you crash? Well, when I first started someone explained it like this:

Suppose you just bought a $2000 stereo, got it all set up, and are listening to your first CD. Half way through, you walk over, pick it up, and throw it out the second story window, smashing it on the driveway.

Oh, it'll happen.

Most times I've seen people crash (myself included x4), they seem to laugh about it. Helicopter crashes are almost always spectacular, and if nothing else give you something to talk about. Most likely a crowd will come over and try to shoot the sh*t while you're picking up the pieces. It all ends up seeming kind of funny right then.

But later, when you get home and start tearing it down and noticing all the bucks its going to cost, that's when it gets irritating.

u r so wrong. when u crashed ur own heli its but when u crashed someone else's heli its . I would rather crash my own heli than 2 crash someone else's cuz then that person might kill u or be mad at u forever and u have pay to pay back that person $$.

Oh..shiiieeettt !!!

What hurts most is the realization that you won't be flying the heli any more today. On that note it is easier to take a crash after what was until then a successful day. Crashing while your first tank of the day is still full is devastating.

When it comes to dealing with the repairs, I ignore the pain. What is important is getting back out and flying. I don't mean it in a " throwing money out the window " kind of way. If you intend to learn you have to survive the learning curve at any cost. It makes it easier if you double check to prevent crashes.

" If you intend to learn you have to survive the learning curve at any cost. It makes it easier if you double check to prevent crashes."

Couldn't have said it better myself. That sums it up very well. If it crashes you fix it because it's your hobby to do that, it not near as fun to build it and sit it on a shelf like an orniment. Be thankful that even if you don't "DORK IT" The heli will break you in by failing in different areas leaving you with no choice but to get to know the machine. Being comfortable with how your model is assembled and familliar with the parts will help ease the uncertanty you have after a crash.

There's a tagline around here that says it all. Something about the difference between a beginner and an expert is the expert knows what a crash will cost him three feet from the ground, a beginner has to gather it up go home and add up the cost.

When I was learning to fly fixed wing I always wrote the airplane off in my mind the minute I finished it. That way I could consider every flight a bonus round !!!! Crashed a few but most have survived 8 years flying.

At the time when I was flying fixed wings RC.. At the end of the season there don't seemed to be any plane left to hang on the ceiling always crashed and that's the end of my flying season. winter rebuilt another one for next season.. .I don't like balsa dust, kills me! cough cough! I just like to stick with heli or Arf plane if I wanted to get back into it..
