Yep that was one mad flyin session.

I have only recently started to do 8's, i went to the field fired up and sent her out rather quick i noticed that the machine was yawing to the left (right hand rotation) quite alot but i stuck with it sunddenly i was flying faster and lower than i have ever done. I was about 150ft up and 100ft out and i brought her in quite quickly from my right decending as she came and then i decided to suddenly do a sharp right and sort of skid the heli to a stop and hover - the heli did not like that i must have loaded the blades and the heli spun round so i tried to follow the tail round so i cound gain control - too late - buried.

i know that i should have used heading lock (now)

what i need to know is would a machine with a good fast servo on the tail with a gv1prevented the problem that i had.

I know that i was being aggresive but thats me flyin for ya ?

look forward to some input

Hmmmmm

Hi

It happens to us all.

Firstly, don't "fly the tail". Your heli yawed to the right (nose yaws right). This will lead to disorientaion for sure.

Governer controls, high speed servos etc....all make advanced flying more precisely controllable. Heading lock gyro is a must for 3D (allowing pilot to concentrate more so on other controls), however, simple flying around and basic aerobatics does not need a heading lock gyro. A simple rate gyro actually creates smoother flying if you're not fully rudder capable since the tail tends to "follow" the lead to an extent.

Finally and MOST IMPORTANT. Take slow baby steps and master the basics. Doing the tricky stuff is great untill you get into trouble. Things go bad really fast unless you have the basics mastered.

Have fun

For Sure

Hi,

you are right of course. the sad part i know all this but a mixture of Adrenalin and getting cocky leads to death for heli?

I can hover nose in, left, right, out the only difference here i think is that i decided to do a move mid flight that i had not planned and the adverse reaction that i got from my attempted 3d style move, without HH and a quick tail servo + gv-1 done it- i have ordered some 9202s and a 9253 with a gv-1from cyberheli then well see.

Tell you what though it was amazing to see it go in, no one wants to smash their heli but if its going in and you cannot stop it then enjoy it sick i know but there you have it

it just relpays over and over again in my head - EXPLOSIVE the way the blades and glass canopy exploded and this cloud of paint and bits of fibre and debris rise and then flutter down to the ground.:confused.
