Do any pilots use dual rates for certain moves at all or are they all done with 100% throw and controlled by smaller stick movements?

I use expo. in a flight mode to slow the reaction down.

I don't use dual rates. I suppose there are a lot of different opinions on this and it depends somewhat on your flying style. I personally like to have as few switches to remember as possible.

I do have a little expo though as mentioned above.

Im not big on dual rates myself I like to have max throw available when I need it. Instead of dual rates I have the rate switch setup for different rates of expo.

I have the rates and expo on the idle up, low rates on normal, higher on idle up 1, full on idle up 2

I use different AFR values for elevator & aileron in all conditions. Normal (or Hover) mode has low cyclic movements and the rest of them automatically go to high rates when flicked.

...yet another great feature from the 9Z

Expo helps out a lot makes my flying smoother. I think the only thing you would want to use D/R for is rudder so you can keep the stick held over without a blurring fast piro.

He hit the nail on the head with that reply, the reason why I was wondering is in a piro flip its hard to keep the piro rate the same when changing pitch and I cant do the cyclics as farst as my piro rate. So with dual rates on rudder you just run the rudder up and down the side. Is this the way most people do them? I have only just started, maybe I need to learn better rudder control.
Also what the difference in stick inputs for a piro loop?

My 'low' dual rate gives a nice steady pirouette, and I hold full rudder during piro routines. High rudder is just enough for a clean 540, but I almost never use that anymore because I'm so used to the low rate now. I keep thinking I should turn up the low rate 5 percent at a time until I can do piro stuff with the higher rate, but I haven't actually started on that road yet.

For the cyclic controls, I fly in low rates almost all the time. These are set so that I can push the stick into the corners without getting any binding, then I set the flybar mass to get the roll rate I want. I don't use high rates often... sometimes I will if I want to try something new, or just goof off with really fast rolls or flips, but I spend almost all of my time in low rates.
