Go for the hummingbird, its not that expensive. I am not one to upgrade the living daylights out of mine so that is probably why I haven't spent that much on it. So far I really do like it. I am still learn and love how durable this heli is. The Piccolo is really good also. I know some people like the Piccolo a lot on this site. Just know that with the Hummingbird you will probably have to replace the engine sometime. I haven't had to yet, but I am sure mine will go soon. Parts are not that bad for the Hummingbird. I have found two places that sell the parts. Heli-world and helihobby. I haven't found a shop around my area that sells the Hummingbird parts, but the one I go to sells the Piccolo. So it probably comes down to if you want to order them or not. Some hobby shop have a better selection than others, but you already know that. GWS just came out with theirs I see. It is www.gws.com.tw. Not a bad looking machine. Looks just like the hummingbird in my opinion. Hope that helps you out some.

The Hornet is a demanding little beast to build and set up, but flies better. If you can fly your nitro around, this would be my vote. I started off on the Piccolo, and it hovered okay, but was not good at forward flight. Both versions (FP and CP) fly well. Of course the CP version flies much better than the FP, but it is a full time, tedious job building it. In the end it is more rewarding. But precision is important. (well it's important in any helicopter, this one has no forgiveness).

Best of luck

Mike

The machine from GWS is identical to my FEDA that I got from ebay.
There is a guy on there from time to time that sells the whole deal for $250.00. Some differences are present from the GWS. Theirs has after aftermarket servo's reciver and gyro. For $50.00 extra bucks not bad. The FEDA has the very compact board. Its all in one. The reciever, gyro and speed control. I can tell already that the servo's in the FEDA will need to be upgraded but eventhough its a board type set up you can switch the servo's and crystals by just plugging them in. This is my first helicopter. I have been doing RC planes off and on for 14 years. I have crashed the crap out of this thing in the living room and it just bounces back. The high price of RC helicopters kept me from having one for a long time but I think these micro's... for what you get no matter what you get is a pretty good value. Think about it 10 years ago there was next to nothing you could fly around inside of your house. Now they make things where you could possibly take a plastic scale model and glue it around the guts of a flyable machine. AMAZING
