I received my gas muffler from Bergen last night and will try it out this weekend on a JR Z230.

Any feedback from you guys that are using them? Power? Noise level?

I was thinking about getting a bergen muffler for my z230. Stock muffler too loud. Would be interested in your opinion.

Yeah, the stock muffler sounds like a real chain saw next to my X-Cell and Benzin. Mine eventually broke.

The Bergen muffler mounts fairly easily on the Z230 - a small hole need to cut out in the canopy for the front of the muffler and I had to mount the left front canopy mount post about 3/8" higher.

I'll post results after the weekend.

Question?

Can anyone post a picture of the new muffler?

dj_hawaii: There's a picture of the muffler on the Bergen website.

Tried the muffler out yesterday but was rained out. Nice sound - a lot quieter than the stock Zenoah muffler and quieter than the Bisson. Seemed to develop more power in the midrange (or the engine worked better) - had to increase the pitch curve and lower the throttle curve significantly at the hover. Didn't get a chance to try it out in FFF.

Bolts even stayed tight :-)

observer

larry has them for the observer, the mounting bracket is further forward on the ones for the observer,if you order one for the observer tell larry what it is goeing on so you get the right one it is the same pipe its just the mounting bracket is further forward on the pipe, plus the observer pipe mounts on the left side not the right like the gassers.

The muffler also mounts on the left side of the Z230. Right side on an X-Cell. The mount is made so the muffler tilts slightly down so when you put it on the left, it tilts up. Thats why I had to reposition the canopy mount.

Yank,

Evidently, the guy that showed me how to load pictures was a tad off. So, in a way it is like that jeep. Put the blame on someone else!
