My daughter just arrived this morning in London for a 2 month stay to go to school this summer. I sent power converters with her to use with her laptop, digital camera, hair dryer, etc.

She sent me an e-mail this morning saying that the receptacles are so close to the floor that the converters are too long and won't plug in correctly so she can use them.

Is there available a type of power strip that she could get to plug into the wall and then it would have some "British" type plugs that she could then plug in the converters??? and where in the Chelsea district would be a good place to get this.

Thanks

sure, i think you're after a 4 bar, sometimes called a gang bar. A single plug, which plugs into the socket then a metre or so of cable then a block with usually 4 plug sockets for your appliances See here

As for where to get one in Chelsea, any electrical type shop would sell them - Dixons, Currys, Woolworths. There should be one nearby or someone should be able to direct here.

To JOHNB:

Thanks for the info, I have sent it to her.

To SODFLYER:

Maybe, just did not know what was there to be had. Has not ventured away from the residence hall yet. No car. She's used to just being able to call dad and get what she needs from the garage and dad's not there. Also she said the residence hall people were not very helpful with them so far and she knows what great people populate these forums.

Thanks.
