I'm looking for recommendations of video editing software for putting together some videos of footage taken at fun flys. I'd like something pretty powerful, yet not too complicated. Basically, best bang for the buck. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm using a Canon Optura 200 and Window XP.

Windows Movie Maker is the best bang for the buck. Is already on your machine (with XP) and you can download V2 for free from MS website. Easy to use.

I own 2 different editing programs, my first was Video Explosions. This program in easy to use, does a fair job and the cost is under 100.00. I moved on to Adobe Premiere 6.5, this program is excellent and at the high end of the spectrum, but you will pay the price for the quality.

U lead video studio is fairly easy to use.If you want to arrange video clips to burn to DVD or CD
Pinnacle Expression is easy to use and has some basic video editing built in with scene detection. It comes with pinnacle instant CD /DVD V7
I think the team bob Extreme 3D DVD was made with Expression

I use Adobe Premiere as well, and yes you do pay through the nose for it, but I think it's worth it if you do a lot of video work. If you just do a little project here and there, probably not worth it

Does anyone know of a DVD 'designer' that will let you create custom animated menus? It seems like this is an option reserved for $3000 pieces of software when it can't be all that hard. I have CD/DVD Creator 5 which has animated menu templates, but it won't let you create your own and its driving me nuts!
