| First FlightsOK, Finally got this thing into the air Sat at the Pittsburgh Hovercrew event.
Engine Starting
The Super-charger is just about transparent during the startup, except for this really neat little whinning tone. (yup!)
Flying
I set the needle 4 clicks to the rich side and had to start turning it in right away. This is probably because of the fuel pressure booster (that comes with the unit) increasing the pressure in the fuel tank.
I got about 3 flights in with it while breaking in the engine and one more with a few clicks toward getting it to run clean.
There is NO DOUBT that it makes more power than the normally aspirated engine.
It also seems to work much better at the higher RPM's
The comments from the other pilots, aside from
That is REALLY NEAT!!
We observed that the heli performned like a .60 in the vertical climbouts and in highspeed forward.
Preliminary indications are that it will help add power for 3D, especially when used with a Governor to keep the engine speed constant.
This week some time I will get the timing equipment out and do some time to climb comparisons between my other 50 that is set up exactly the same without the supercharger and the new one.
STAY TUNED!!
So far, it looks really good!
