Hi Experience Heli Pilots,

Im having trouble getting my blades to track on my Nexus. I change the pitch rod on the higher blade to bring it down to the lower blade. After much trial and error I finally get them close. The thing is, the next day when I fly, they are not tracking (about a one inch gap). I have to to the trial and error mess again. Whats up with this?

Thanks,

Jesse

coming from a newbie

are they wood? if so, as far as i know they can be a problem, i would imagine especially if the humidity changes. try doing a search with the key word "tracking" and read all the different problems with tracking.

Here are some things to check (I doubt this time of year its humidity!!!). First make sure you spindles and shafts are strait. Roll them on a piece of glass if needed. If they check out make sure none of your ball links are worn. If you fold the blades back and notice binding, pop the collective links so they are not stressed. Also check all you rods and make sure they are not bent from and earlier wreck. You should be able to get the blades in track and they should stay perfect. One more item to check would be the bearings in the blade holders, if they are damaged or worn this is most likely your problem.

Thanks for the tips.

I was just outside a few minutes ago flying the nexus and I got the blades to track right dead on with each other. As soons as I did that, the heli flew so much better. I ran 3 tanks through it and they stayed perfect. Hopefully I can fly tomorrow if the wind isnt to bad to see if they are still in track with each other.

Another note with the blades. If i take my fingers and put them on the blade tips and move them up and down, they move about 2-2.5 inches up and down. I know they are suposed to move some, but one seems to move a little more than the other. Im thinking that the bearing/bushing on that side is/are bad. Could this cause the abnormal tracking problems?

Thanks all,

Jesse

ps. ive got wooden blades and they seem to be fine. not a whole lot of himidity here in south eastern VA this time of year. Dew point today was in the teens. DRY DRY DRY

Yes the blades are supposed to move up and down, the nexus is a dampened head so it will do that. If you have a problem still, also check the dampners, they need mainteneance.
