All stock setup with 3000mah NiMH batery packs fully charged doesn't seem to lift off well and head speed seems to be not much . any ideas on what could be the problem .

Thanks

How many cell pack is it?
What is your pitch range?
What's the weight of the machine?
What kind of pitch / throttle curves do you have?

Hi

It is all stock ! and an 8 cell pack ! I don't have a way to measure it . At mid stick it hovers at about 7 degree and top is like 13 degree . throttle is set at 0 25 50 75 100

I was just thinking of setting my Eolo up with 10 of those cells. But now i don't know anymore

Aashu, sorry for the delay. When I was running 8 cells I wasn't really impressed with the performance of the stock setup. I ended up going to 10 cells to get it to fly well. I have a video of my all stock Eolo with 10 cells at I was running +7 at hover (I hover at 3/4 stick) with +11 at the top end. I had a similar throttle curve but since I hover (+7 degrees) at 3/4 stick my throttle point at hover is 75%. If you want to stay with mid stick hover I'd bump the throttle points up to 0, 40, 75, 85, 100 so you are getting a higher head speed at hover.

I'm not sure if you have mini servos, rx, etc. but on 8 cells weight is a big factor. My 10 cell 1700nicds weighed in around 420grams. The Sanyo 3000nimh 8 cell pack weighs about 480, I believe. If the change in throttle curve doesn't help and if your esc can take it I'd add 2 more cells to the pack. I think it'd be the biggest bang for your buck. Let me know how it works out.

I'm testing a Hacker 9L with a Kontronic Smile controller on 8 cells. With the 18 tooth pinion it can run between 1500 and 2000 rpm head speed which gives excellent sport performance, IMO. This is another option though more costly.

jmwolters, which cells, esc, motor combo are you running now and how does it fly?

Shoo, I'm flying the stock version (motor, set up, ect). With a plus motorcontroller(FRu49.9 bec/b,6to12 cells 50A) and the cells are, sanyo n-1700scr *8.

Like you mentioned .. I may go brushless too and use LiPo instead which will solve all the problems . My esc is Castle Cre Phegusis 35 and can very well handle more than 8 cell . Problem is , with that setup motor may last may be 10-12 flights. What size cell you have on 10 cell pack . I would appreciate if you could tell where you bought em from . How about adding another cell to my pack ?

Thanks

Well, if you went with a lipo pack like Mckoi did (about the same voltage as a 10 cell pack) you'll have plenty of power. Though as you mentioned the stock motor might not last long. With 10 cells I only got around 20 flights out of mine before a brush left in mid flight.

I have a 1500mah pack and a 1700 mah pack that I'm borrowing from Mckoi. The 1500 pack is 2 duratrack shark packs that I made into 1 pack. <$20. I'll ask Mckoi where he got the other pack. Adding just one cell may give you enough power to fly well and still give a decent life span to the motor. Though the motor is the cheapest part of the equation.

I've been toying with the idea of putting in car motors but don't know anything about them. I have one that fits but haven't spun it up yet to see how it works. Does anybody know of a car motor that has around a 3333 kv rating? I know on a hacker c40 it's 9 turns and the stock motor has 13 turns.

Jeroen, I'll try to strap the extra weight to my heli to see if it can lift it on a 10 cell pack and let you know. That way you won't be wasting $ on a pack that won't fly.

9 cells on the the stock motor definatly give you alittle more head speed!! 10 will give you even more but your adding weight
brushless is a good investment all around,
lighter than the stock motor buy ALOT!!!
more efficent= longer fight times
and alot more power

lots to choose from too, mega , hacker, kontronik, Lenher etc..
one for every pocket size too lol

I'm getting a Lenher 1920 8 turn next week to test , I'm hoping it has even more tork than the hacker or kontronik...
