I've been hearing mixed opinions that the servo output supports do anything. What exactly are they meant to do?

The supports are VERY useful. They markedly reduce the side loads applied to the servo output shaft by supporting the shaft above the servo arm. You can see the benefit by loading the servo when the radio is on. Apply a load to the servo via the pushrod, and the only attempted movement you'll see is rotational; you don't see the output shaft trying to rock to and fro. Obviously, a high quality servo like a 9252 can resist a lot of the side loads, but it is always better to reduce them from the start.

Can you tell me where can I get more information or what is the related web site because in my area, I never see any servo output supports and have no idea about it even the appearance.

Thanks for you nice pic, ColeopTer. I have seen that in the www.hirobotechnique.com. How much is that? and where can I buy one? I think it will be quite useful to save the servos.

You can order these direct from M.A. and Ricks has them also. The support plates come in a quantity one, the pivot studs come in packs of 4.

I found that the Futaba pivot studs/braces work for the Hitec servos.
Just some info.

Chris...

Are you telling me you're going to listen to Mr. H (you know who I'm talking about) instead of Mr. Schoonard? Put the damn supports on!

See you Saturday.

servo supports

Guys

i have cutted such a servo supports from carbon.
the set comes with carbon frame, what is used as a stiffener, and a support arm, like 115-85,
Also i did the same but with shorter arm, in case the servo horn need to be parralel to the servo.
i did 20 sets, and it costed me something like 8$ for a set.
there is no hardware, but its easy to find.
i dont mind to give away some of them.
Very light, strong,
can provide pictures
thise sets are good for any heli and airplane.
