none of my glowplug wrenches fit inbetween the plug and the tank....I have a socket that fits, but I can't turn it, because the ratchet is too big...
do they make a tool specifically for this?

of am I screwed and have to drop the engine?

Take a look at the Vario flex glow socket driver.

Craftsman

The Shuttle needs a 90 degree socket afair to get the plug out.

Craftsman ratchet and 8mm socket fit for me. Not the cheap ratchet, the good one. I know your pain. Another option is the same socket and the angle head 1/4 drive breaker bar.

As I recall, a smallish 1/4" rachet head and suitable socket bit
works fine. I dont think the Vario will flex enough.

Shuttle Engine

Hi Guys,

Whilst we're on the subject of Shuttle glow plugs and engines, I need to change the engine in mine, as the existing TT36 has packed up and I have got an new OS 32 to go in it.

How is best to get the engine in and out of one of these things, in the Raptor it is easy, but this is a whole new ball game!!!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Peter.

Ugly

Changing the engine is as ugly as it looks. No real easy way.

Gee, thanks Ken, not quite the answer I expected but thanks for being honest!!

How long do you think it would take? I suppose I should change the clutch and liner whist the engine is out as it sounds like a real pain to get it in and out

Thanks for your help

Peter.

wow...I figured I would get good responses, but you guys are just awesome....

I thank you all for your suggestions and your offerings..

I desperately started looking into all of my tools for something that would work...I ended up using a regular 5/16" socket and a regular old pair of pliers actually worked...

the inside part of the pliers has those teeth that bit into the socket...also, the location of the inner teeth provided more leverage

Honestly it would only take about a half an hour to change the engine. As for changine the clutch and liner.. NAH! If they look good leave them alone.

Big thing is let your locktite and engine gasket material cure for 24 hours. Also make sure all your parts are CLEAN before reinstalling.

Sorry about being honest, just can't help my self.
