Scale Model RC Helicopters > Century Bell 47G questions

I have looked at the bell 47G century site. I noticed that the parts that are used on the tail section are actually made for other 50 size kits, not specially for the 47G. like in the following picture:
[BREAK]
you will see that the shaft TR drive runs through a circular opening, that looks exactly like the one on my Shuttle - the opening that holds the tubular tail boom. In these next pictures that show the Tail Rotor:

....i see that they are made for a tubular tail boom, not for the 47G. what's up with that? Is it supposed to be like that or was Century a bit lazy?

Thanks!

I saw this too,,, and I thought this was real lazy on Century's part!!,,, it just may stop me from buying it untill they fix it,,, but I was thinking, I have this Cricket tail-gearbox and I could turn an extension/adapter on my lathe and mount it on the Bell, and my friend could weld up some tail framing so it would look more scale.. Maybe I will buy it... I was also woundering if I would be better off with the Hirobo Lama ?!?!

Lazy or smart engineering to a price.? This 50 size kit, including scale bits and mechanics sells as a PAINTED fiberglass ARF that even has opening and closing doors, for only $550.00!!!! I have seen the heli up close at two shows, and so have a number of others I have spoken to and they all thought it was an insignificant compromise to the scale look in order to keep it into a price range that is affordable to most people.

If you want more "pure scale" then get the Vario Gasser version, just be prepared to pay more then twice the price, and have a lot more work to do in order to get it in the air.

Remember, everything is engineered and built to a price range, I don't think you would expect a BMW 318 to be the same as a BMW 750!!

Both sedans, but far different in price range.

If you can find a better 50 size scale version of the Bell 47G in ARF form for anywhere near that price, then buy it.

I am sure no reasonable scale modeler would expect to only pay $550.00 for a scale ARF heli and be able to compete with it in Top Gun.

I plan to get one because at 15 feet on a flyby it will still look like a great little rendition of the Bell 47G.

Hmmmm... Now to rig a servo to open and close the doors

I am not sure that the $ 550 gets you all the scale looks. I believe there is some sort of scale accessory kit that is also needed to get it to look like the pics on their website. I am not mentioning that to knock this machine (that is just what I heard). I like it a lot .... and am on the pre-order list. I am going to the WRAM Show (in NY) tomorrow and will get more details/info. Bob

I agree with you Syclic.
Smart engineering is the key to make the business success.
Guys ..This is a sport scale! Only $550 ARF (fiberglass). We should give them credit. At least we can get 46 size Bell47G without paying premium!
