| I had one of the first Jetcopters in the US and it crashed on the second flight. The helicopter had an older style bearing block on the reduction drive and the belts were the older type too .... i did a tripple vertical pirouete about 60 feet off the ground, and durring it the tail seamed to get weird, and as i started to pull out, the heli sank like a rock as i was aplying full up pitch .... The turbine was still running , but the belts had snapped, and it was to low for correct with an auto. The whole turbine was banged up badly. JetCat repaired the entire helicopter under warranty ... however Vario USA was never able to get my my blades yet (over 6 months !! )...
as for the turbine damage, i believe it was only bearings ,and a casing that had to be replaced .....
I also had to replace the main mast bearings and the main mast and the ones shipped with the HP5s are crap (the original shafts that uised to be shipped were not even made of hardened steel ! )
i hope to have my HP5 back up and flying soon .. ( almost a year later !!! ) So far my experience with the Jetcopter has been a nightmare (though it was a dream flying it when it did actually fly)
I do have to give credit to JetCat for great customer support, i also have 3 other jet turbines (2 P80s and a P120) and love them ... as for Vario USA .... well ....... ill just say that its taking them over 7 months to finish a bell230 for me that was supposed to only take less than 4 weeks .....
