Radio Shack has on sale($40) a wireless(100ft) barbecue thermometer. 0-199 C or F.
Also their electronic wind gauge(6-30mph) is on sale for $20.

Radio Shack IR Thermometer

I'm not sure if you're refering to their IR thermometer, but I just bought one for $29. Will post results of testing as soon as I can find someone in the area with a Raytek to compare it against...

Anyone in the NOVA area near Manassas, Gainesville, or other neighborhoods close by?

A easy way to check thermometer calibration is boiling water
Always 100 degrees C at sea level.

Another goody is freezing water usually around 0 degrees C at sea level, so what if your out a couple of degrees it's usually more the change in trend from normal you are monitoring. Hope this helped.

I have been using the Radio Shack IR thermometer for the past year, and it works great. I compared the temp reading with a Raytec, and they were the same. Thats a good price on the RS thermo, if you can find a store with them in stock, their selling quick, Daz...

No, the one I mentioned was a RF sending unit with a probe for whatever your cooking on the grill and a receiving unit that displays the temp. and also has an alarm setting. Goes to 199 C or F so would probably only be useful in C mode.

You may have to go to a couple of stores to find it, they are getting hard to come by because alot of the guys that are racing rc cars are buying them now. Good Luck!!!!
