Main Discussion > Anyone had "radio noise" from Muffler?

Last week I had some "lock outs" (8U) the range check while running was only about 50 feet (down from 200+ feet). I sent the RX and TX module in for a check up and am doing some other routine stuff. I did notice the Hatori muffler was touching near the pressure port due to worn "O" rings. I wonder If I should put in a bonding strap from the muffler to the engine?

P.S the fail safe settings of engine to idle alerted me to the problem (got my undivided attention)

Yes.

Use to get glitches with a tuned pipe, header combination. The glitches would happen when the pipe slipped on its mounting and would start contacting the header. That pretty much sold me on one piece mufflers and tuned pipes.

The pipe mount on the Concept is to a plastic side frame so no conection to the engine unless the "O" ring wears.

metal to metal contact at it's finest!!

A friend of mine demonstrated this to me once on his plane.. With his engine running at idle, he touched a screwdriver to the engine fins.. with the vibrations bouncing the screwdriver up and down, it made the servos twitch.
