Radio - Servo - Gyro - Gov - Batt > Futaba Super-8 Govenor Setup Question

I hope that this will be the last post on setting up a GV-1 with a Futaba Super-8 Radio. I am a little confused on the way the futaba radio allows you to change the govenor's max rpm for a given switch position. From what I understand it uses a % setting for each switch position. The default is S1 -> 0%, S2 -> 50%, S3 -> 100%. This is where I am confused, if I want to lower the headspeed while on S1 , if it is set to 0% how will that work? I must be misunderstanding what the % means for each switch position. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

David,

I think I understand what you are saying. I have set the headspeed rpm on the gv-1 for each switch position as you have said. The question I have is how does the % settings for Normal, Idleup-1, Idleup-2 on the transmitter programming screen affect the rpms that I have specified on the GV-1 itself? Is the default 0% for normal, 50% for Idle-up1, 100% for Idle-up2 on the transmitter programming screen the values that tell the GV-1 that no adjustments are being input from the transmitter? I hope this makes sense.

I hope this can give you some idea.
As what you mention, I believe you are using Ch7 for speed control.

First, go to the screen "GOVrpm", turn the Norm, Idel-1, Idel-2 to their default - 0%, 50%, 100%.
Second, turn on your governor. Setting S1(Norm) to 1000 rpm , S2(Idel-1) to 1500 rpm, and S3(Idel2) to 2000 rpm.
Third, Setting the head speed you want on the Tx. 65% means 1650 rpm, 70% means 1700 rpm, 75% means 1750 rpm. The number of percentage times 1000, and then plus 1000 is your headspeed setting.

After the new setting, when you switch between different mode, you can see the particular headspeed is display as you want (don't worry about the S? display). The idea of that is setting the low point for 1000 rpm, mid point for 1500 rpm and high point for 2000 rpm to get an linear set up. Then, you can set by percentage.

Marty, what do you need a governer for? get Alvin to set your head speed the old fashion way. Just kidding. Hope you get it worked out. You know, Chuck Stanton uses a Gov on both of his choppers. He could probably get you fixed right up.
