This may have been asked before. Does anyone know why the R30 shakes during spool up/down with it's feet firmly on the ground.

I haven't seen this problem with any of the nexus' or X-cell's.

Looks like a quirk of the R-30. I usually don't set on the ground too long because of the shakes. No problems anywhere else.

Blades are in track and balanced.

Under the term "ground resonance" many factors come into play. Since the blade axle is "free" the system rotates around a varying center of mass and the springiness of the gear can provide "feedback" which helps amplify the problem. If you provide a little friction on the gear (stoppers, grass or a piece of carpet, the feedback loop is broken and it won't do it (or not as bad)

Adjusting pitch/throttle curves will also alieviate this resonance.

Tighten the blades in the blade holders a little bit. If the blades are too loose they tend to lead-lag a little during spool down and this can cause the vibration.

Let me know if this helps.

The R-30 does have a wobble to it upon initial spool up. It is normal on all that I have witnessed. It is like that on mine. The X-cells do not do this at all unless there is a problem. I have had and flown both. Raptor 30, X-cell Graphite, X-cell Fury Expert 60.

Possible Solution

I dont know how is the Raptor head configuration, but I use to have the same problem you describe here in my Hirobo Shuttle ZXX. I solve it puting 3 in 1 oil on the spindle and on the dampers rubbers too.

I am pretty sure the raptor head use a Spindle suported by dampers so try puting oil or grease inside the Rubber Damper were the spindle pass...............I am pretty sure you will see an improve.

Good Luck,

Isaac

petroleum oil like 3in1 will swell and ruin the rubber dampeners.

I have been using 3 in 1 oil in my Hirobo Shuttle dampers from more than 3 years and I had never ruin the Dampers.

Is this is a possible problem on the Raptors Rubber Dampers, you can use Silicone base oil. I thing you can find this Silicone oil on Scuba shops.

Good luck,

Isaac

One of the reasons that the Raptor has a wobble is the fact that there is some slop in the head design (pull on each blade grip and you will see this. Just has to center out upon spool up. Might can be cured by adding some shims, don't know as never really worried about it as it has not caused any problems in flight and has always been a raptor characteristic.
