| it may be possible to charge multiple batteries in series, but it's not a great idea. if you connect the batteries to the charger in series, the charger will see twice the number of cells. so if you connect two 8 cell packs to the charger in series, the charger will see 16 cells. you have to make sure your charger can handle 16 cells. the battery packs would have to be made with exactly the same cells. if the cells are from different manufacturers or different models from the same manufacturer, even if the capacity is the same, it will not work. one pack will end up being charged more than the other, which will probably damage the pack, and in the worse case cause a fire! also, the two packs need to be at the same state of discharge before you start charging them. if one is fully discharged, and one is only half discharged, the half discharged one will end up being over charged. also, the packs should be about the same age. if one is brand new, and one is old and weak, you will not get balanced charging as well. so as you can see, it is technically possible, but you have to be very careful. |
