Hi,

I am having problem picking a servo for my heli. throttle. I am thinking on either using a JR DS 8201 or stock 511 for the throttle. On top of that, I have S9252 for the cyclic, and just wondered if I need a faster speed servo on the throttle to match the speed of the cyclic? Please give me input. Thanks!!!

throttle servo

Hi Ken, its my understanding that the throtle servo does not need to be as fast as the rest. The reason being that the servo only uses half the travel, when flying in flight mode 1 or 2. Myself, I am flying a Freya with jr4131 servos on everything but my throttle. On there I am just runnig a jr531 servo. Personally I think you would want something a little more beefy then a stock servo, anywhere unless you are still in the learning stages.

Purchase a good quality, ball bearing servo. Coreless would be nice. Remember that the throttle servo works very hard and is in constant motion. It's not all about load. You needn't try to match the speed of the 9252's. A 9202 would be bomb proof reliable and last a LONG time without breaking your bank. 9001 would be good too. A 4131 or whatever the updated analog version of the 4131 servo is would all be good JR choices. The 511 is a little on the economy side of things.

The throttle servo gets pretty important when you're two feet off the deck inverted.....
