| I planted my X-spec today, real, real hard. I lost orientation during a planned autorotation and the ship ended up flipping on the way down. I could probably have finished the auto, if I knew that it was flipping, but due to the gray sky and hazy conditions, I didn't find out until too late. I probably shouldn't have been flying so high with the sky the way it was
Both carbon frames were pulverized. The landing gear is almost completely flat. It looks a lot like a sled that a squirrel might use. Luckily replacement carbon frames for the X-spec are pretty cheap at MJP Carbon .
So far, the list of what I need to replace is: fan shroud, flybar, rod ends, two rods, head button, main blades, muffler mount, landing gear rails, all lower frame spacers, spindle, maybe mainshaft, lower frames, upper frames, tail boom, tail blades, tail output shaft, tail support tubes, vertical tail fin, landing gear, radio tray.
I have to replace the upper frames because one of the canopy standoffs broke off, taking a big chunk of frame with it.
You can see all of the pictures here.
Here are a few for the post:
