Bergen R/C Helicopters > 401 gyro/servo question

Does anyone know if you can use the 9251 digital servo on the 401 to get a little more 'power' (torque), or must you upgrade the gyro to the 601? Is there a fast servo out there that has more torque than the 9253, and still have the same speed, that is compatable on the 401? Getting ready to install gyro on Bergen gasser.

hitec

Went to their website, didn't see anything near that speed, or any info to tell me if they'll work with 401, sent them email for info. Thanks, Rick

Rick,

I ended up putting a 9252 digital on my tail. It may not be as fast, but the torque is higher and should last longer.

The 9253 will work, just make double sure there is no binding at all on your tail linkages.

S9251 servo is exclusively designed fof the use on GY601 Gyro.. it has much higher resolution than S9253. Unless you are doing some heavy 3D with your gasser S9253 should be just fine, or invest into a GY601. I used a hitec HS-925MG non digital on my GY502 high torque metal gear works well. I am putting a S9253 into my Benzin.

Your using a 401? Running of 'ds' (digital mode), how is the 9352 working out for you? Does the tail hold really well, or does it seem to let go.

Yes, I am using the 401. I first put the 9252 on in Las Vegas.

Since then, I had been having a weird thing going on. In FFF my tail would wander out on me, and I was only able to run about 63% gain before the tail would start hunting.

After watching Mal setup a local pilots heli with a small wheel and the Green Zeal "snot" under the gyro instead of the supplied double sided tape, I decided to do the same.

I now am at 95% gain with no wandering of the tail in FFF

I had Rusty do a large backward loop while visiting his shop this past weekend, and it held beautifully.

I am also using the V-tailblades. Just FYI.

'Snot'

Could you give me more detail on the green stuff? Sounds like the servo you're using is the way to go! What size Vblades are you using on the tail? Thanks much, Rick

The green snot is the stuff marketed by Kyosho under the Zeal name. I don't have a package handy to give details on the part number and such, But we order it through a local hobby shop.

The V-tail Blades only come in 105 MM

401 and 9252 ...

Hi guys,

Used a 9252 servo on a 401 gyro in DS mode with good results, to me slightly less performance but wins over failure when you have driven tail ect, this combo has been well and truly stressed in the Millennium and is a winner for me with over 150 flights to date, have now fitted the Millennium with the 601 and 9151, so can use the 401 and 9252 in a raptor 50 V2,

I could use the 9253 but don't trust it to many failures,

The 9252 (0.14) has the same frame rate as the 9253 (0.07), DO NOT use the 9251 as different frame rate and will fry up !!!!

You could use the 9151 (0.19) loads of torque but I guess will be low performance,

Cheers,
