Trying the Hard Heliman Location: Green Bay, WI
| I am a newbie in the simplest terms. 3 Weeks of ownership.
I bought the Venture CP. Tried hovering in my front yard, surrounded by woods, got scared and tipped it over into a birch tree the first night. Broke the See Saw Arms. NO Problem!
With the coming weeks, no help from anyone other than reading your advice on thes post, I had progressed to a full hover, landing gear removed and some FF.
Today I strapped the Gear back on and tried some side hovering on both side to get the Nose In more comfortable. I took the Heli to a much larger area for this. Started hovering Figure 8 with tail to me. Then side to me. Couldn't figure 8 that way, but held pretty steady. I finally took advantage of the large area and flew around for a while.
It was very exciting.
Next tank I tried more figure 8 then side hover. This time it came nose in and it scared the hell out of me, but held it for about 30 seconds. With all this confidence, I started to fly a circle pattern at about 30 feet. 2 laps and I was cruising along in control til the nose came in at me on FF pretty fast and high.
I almost recoverd, 30 feet to the ground and all I broke were a set of Blades, See Saw Arms again and a bent Spindle Shaft.
Now I think I am ready for my first lesson on Saturday with a local intermediate. This Sport is Very Satisfying.
Thanks to you all for contributing to my success. Will keep you posted on future success or failure. I see this as a step forward, not a useless crash. |
