Hey guys after a couple long days of traveling/testing/filming and tinkering I finally have a short clip to share.

I was really lucky to get asked to participate in this film Vincent Laforet is directing on Jamie O'brien.

I am cooked from a full day of flying the 5d, HVX200, and RED and still need to clean the salt off the heli.

Take a look here for the teaser clip....more to come

Happy Holidays everyone!

Nice.

I always shim the camera up so I dont get a constant 'lean' in the video.

Can you pull live video out of the 5DMkII when shooting video?
Does Vince have you sign a non-disclosure like GoeG ;-)
Cheers,

Jeff, no NDA and lots more Alcohol

Live view out of the 5D2 works great with a stereo sub mini.

Oakley...camera is level it was just windy and this was a totally impromptu shot we saw as we drove past the site and had to pull over and grab it quick with no camera operator....just me flying and trying to frame.

Behind the scenes should be up tonight.

Now this just plain sucks. I get to shoot oil rigs and cranes and you get to go to the islands!

You got in and out just in time, lightning strikes shut the whole islands power out last night (still out in some areas ), windy rainy cold, just a good day to stay inside and wrench on helis.

Obviously, I've never done anything quite like that... but isn't the air above the water just about as turbulent as the water itself?
It seems like that would be asking a lot of a full size heli, let alone a model?

Best of luck! You've already got the cajones for the job!

Taylor, I have never heard that theory before.. I would have thought that the two (wind and waves) do interact with each other, but only in the broader sense (eg onshore wind creates different waves than offshore wind), but the wind would be unlikely to be turbulent because the sea bottom shoals rapidly (obviously the wind within a few feet of the water would be tossed around, but here I asssume the heli woud be at least 15-20 feet above the waves)

Well that's my theory anyway!
