| G-153 Center PotWay back in the "old" days, before computer radios and servo reversing and sub trims, it took quite a bit of effort to ge the tail rotor lined up correctly. To make things easier, Futaba introduced a center adjustment to the G153 gyro. This made it very simple to adjust the center position of the servo. Although this was helpful, it was "cheating".
Now days you have the aid of computer radios. You are better off using the raido for adjustments then the center pot on the gyro. The most important thing is to make sure the centering pot is in the middle. To check this is pretty simple. Make sure the gyro is hooked up and running, then just hit the rudder servo reverse. You will see the servo move when you do. Now turn the centering pot on the gyro a little and reverse the rudder again. The servo will move a little less. Turn the centering pot some more and reverse the servo again. It will move even less. Keep doing this until the servo does not move when you hit the servo reverse. Now the centering pot is set to zero. Be sure all your sub trims and regular trims are set to netural before you attempt this or you will get a false reading.
Now that the gyro is centered, you can go ahead and use the servo splines and sub trim to get the tail rotor arm at 90 degrees to the tail rotor push rod.
I hope this helps. -Steve |
