Insurance

dgxco,

Sorry to hear they could not help you. However, I am not surprised.

I believe most insurance companies will simply say no up front if you ask for insurance for a HeliCam business. Simply because they do not understand what you are asking for. However, if they know you and you have proved to be a low risk individual, the situation is different.

You will find that there is a very big difference as to what kind of insurance you can get with your existing company if you have a no claim track record.

Anyone tried Lloyds yet?

Try AMA again!

Guys,
BMFA provides “traders insurance” so that model shops can fly models for business purposes (setting them up for customers, models shows etc). I am sure AMA will have some similar sort of insurance for model traders in the US. Don’t ask AMA for aerial photography insurance, just try to get hold of the policy details for the model traders and investigate if it excludes aerial photography. In any case the cheap £50 fee for two pilots that BMFA charges shows the low risk on this business. Why not bring this as an example to the insurance company when you seek insurance. And you can even tell them that you are willing to pay more than that as long as insurance is provided to you.

Also, I am sure some insurance company will be behind AMA and they will know what risk are involved with model helicopters. Perhaps your second best chance it to find out who provides insurance to AMA members.
