Got my rigs, 1 of John's version 2 units for my gasser and another Bergen unit, both used. I was doing some test photos of real estate in a remote area. Next thing I know 2 cops are there looking me over, first thing they want is me to land and some insurance evidence, I give them my AMA card. Now I know that the AMA really will not cover me but they dont. I got lucky but may not again. Got some great shots but I need a Liability policy to get some jobs for real. Has the market lightened up enough for some sources, the brokers I work with all point me to aviation underwriters but the aviation guys dont want a thing to do with me and send me to surplus who throw me back again and again, I would appreciate any related information.

check into the PPA (professional photographers of Amercia) .. http://www.ppa.org .. they provide all kinds of services, including insurance.. both property and liability insurance .. membership is not cheap, $300.00 a year .. but it's worth it ! ..

If God didn't want us to eat animals, why'd he make 'em out of meat ?!

You're going to have problems finding insurance. I closed down the R/C part of my aerial business. Simply couldn't find any insurance.

Hi

Guess we're lucky here in the UK I spoke with the BMFA on several occasions about 3rd party insurance for commercial work, specifically aerial photography.

A years cover with 10 million GBP cover is £50 per annum providing you pass the 'B' certificate BMFA test.

I haven't taken it up yet as its too good to believe, but like I say have checked with them several times and I always get the same answer 'Yes you are covered for aerial photography under our commercial side of the policy'

If any other people in the UK know of anything wrong with the BMFA Insurance let me know.

Insurance

My Insurance is not cheap, It's $1800.00 per year on liability alone! It took almost 4 months to find, just make sure it is an air tight policy, you don't want to be paying for months/years, then to make a claim and find you don't have the right Insurance, which has happened to someone I know.

Stay Tuned!

i have a real good lead on an insurance policy. If it checks out, I will be glad to get you in touch with the agent that can hook you up! I was quoted $884 for $1,000,000.00 in liability coverage. I am having it looked over right now and as soon as I get the OK, again I will be glad to pass it on!

More Later!

BAD NEWS!

I am sorry that I have lead you guys obviously down the same road. I am so aggrivated at my agent, he all but promised it was a sure deal. I am afraid that if I hadn't felt the need to have my attorney look it over, we would have a good lead. The longer that took, the more questions the isurance company was asking. They said that they could and would write a custom policy if we could get a minimum of about 15-20 guys ready and willing to sign up. Ideally, 30 would be better, it would definetly lower the premium.

I really am sorry, but I have not given up. I will keep trying, as I am sure you all will too.

Better luck next time......we hope!

If all it takes is 15 guys to get a serious insurance company to step up to the plate I'm SURE we could gather that kind of support.. Tell you insurance guy that those numbers are no problem.

Bonded?

Anybody looked into getting a bond? Might be easier than trying to get coverage from an agent. Maybe through Loyds or something of that nature.
I am building my first platform this weekend for fun, but if it works out well I am looking to head down the road of commercial work soon.
