Sort of dissapointing that is is limited to between 5 and 7 cells.

It is dissapointing it only takes that many cells.

Ive decided to scrap buying this and make my own.
The load and charge can be managed by the SuperNova and Ill just test the voltage and current , Im also adding a temp sensor to it.
Then plot those to a program on the computer as a graph.

Ive got a board made up that I have analogue inputs and switched outputs from the PC
Ive also got the code made up for the software scope and plotting I did some years ago so may as well use it for this and save a few bucks.

Cheers

That's probably a better way to go Dave, since you have the capabilities to do it. That way you can make sure you get all of the features you want. I found one that did a lot, but was $600 and the software didn't look so hot. They have some nice do-it-all microchips out these days as well. PICs or the Atmel AVR series, with up to 8 AtoD ports, tons of I/O ports, hardware pulse width modulation are fun to play with and almost too easy. Spend some time coding, dorking around with formulas, incorporate some mosfets and passive components and your set.

I should be able to use my hobby IO board, no need for a PIC in it.

It runs 8 analogue in and 4 switch out to LPT port.
Cost AU$50 (US$25)
Kit form, solder up takes a few hrs.
Software end I have.

I just went to price a DATAQ starter kit they sell in the US for $25 but its not CE approved so I cant get one here in AUS, closest to it is $400 in the range for a logging remote IO kit so Im going the cheaper option and write my own instead of WinDAQ and use the cheaper IO board.
Ive got a K type thermocouple here as well to throw in it.

That covers the battery testing.
Im considering expanding the tester to use while bench tuning the heli for temp logging and lift thrust, I got a load cell out of some digital scales to use for that.

Im interested in the making of a data logging controller using EEPROM to store various values in flight then download after.
The Amtel would come in handy.
Failing that throw out the AU$400 for the DATAQ one.

Cheers
