Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > A couple S.E. questions

I have a '98 spec s.e. with the 848 metal head. The spindle does not have a rubber damper sleeve on it, and is getting scored up in the center from contact with the head block. The head was factory assembled this way, and there is no mention of the rubber sleeve in the instructions. I bought a new spindle and it came with the sleeve, but it won't fit into the headblock with the sleeve installed on the spindle. Has the head block been changed? The metal to metal contact from the spindle/block contact cant be good, but I have never recorded more than one glitch on my BC-6, and that has only happened a few times.

Next question. I installed the al. tail gear box when it came out and have had no problems with it until recently. I was getting some slop in the tail gears and the al. spacer between the gear and bearing looks to be compressed. I can't find this part #861-4 anywhere. Has this part been changed, and what is the new part #?

Thanks for the help

it sounds like you have one of the original head blocks that had a machined ridge in the middle to support the axle. Later versions don't have that and require the "sleeve". The later versions had the ridge removed to simplify machining. The sleeve is not necessary and, in my opinion, is not as good as the machined ridge.
The aluminum spacer in the tail rotor has been replaced with a brass one, I don't have the number here but MA will know what you are asking for if you call. The aluminum one worked fine IF you loctitied the bearing to the output shaft but many people don't like to do that so the aluminum one crushed. The brass one works either way and is standard now.

So the scoring on the spindle is O.K.?

Scoring

It has never been a problem as the metal to metal contact never gave a problem.
