Bergen R/C Helicopters > Bergen Gasser Head to Frame Mount

I'm assembling the Bergen Gasser with a G26 engine. The engine fits right into the frames, but the new head pushes the metal cross brace that is used to mount to the head to far back to use the mounting holes in the rear of the sideframes. What modifications are any of you using to make this work? Thanks in advance for looking, and responding. Rick

head mount

you have to open the holes up a little bit,the frames are machined for the g23 motor, the g26 has a little longer head there for you have to cut the holes out to get the mounting bolts in i used my dremel and it worked great.
once every body starts to use the g26 instead of the 23 we will change the program and start machineing the frames for the 26,but for now you have to cut the hole a little wider, sorry.

Frame mount at engine head

Rick To mount the cross member at the cylinder head, open the mounting holes in the frame, back about 1mm only. This should give enough room to slide the bracket away from the motor head. You do not end up with binding. Do not file down the protruding tab on the cylinder head, that will only draw the motor back and pull the clutch out of line with the motor.

Bergen Head to Frame Mount

Thanks much for the help, I thought maybe people were making up a new metal cross mount, with the end holes offset where they attach to the frame, or grinding down the mount to clear the head 'button' area. Does widening the holes still allow a good solid mounting?

Head mount

That's a better idea, or how about making an aluminum mount 9/16 W X 3/8D X 3 1/2L, and then mill out the area in the center to the standard size, and then drill offset 3m holes for the sideframe bolts? You probably could even file/grind/sand down the center section to get the offset if you wouldn't have access to a machine shop. That way you could install either engine in the heli. This might be a good way for Bergen to go, too, as it allows a little more versitility in engine choices.
