Gasser Model RC Helicopters > x-cell gasser new engine ?

Miniature aircraft are waiting for new zenoah engines for the gasser
they call it G231 ...
supposed to be more powerful than the g23 and run like 100 degree
cooler ... and they can increase head speed from 1400 to 1600 rpm...

did someone ever heard about this engine ?

The G-231 does run much cooler and smoother. It does not get as hot partly because of new cooling fins and the fact that it does not have but one ring (less friction) and can rev to higher RPM. The new carb design helps it to transition better also. This engine runs at 235 degrees all day long instead of 325+ degrees. This engine is a vast inmprovement over the G23. Yes, it can hover at 1600's head speed without blurring the tail fins. It should definetly be a winner.

Hope this helps!

100 degrees cooler measured in fahrenheit over the standard g23.

Testing was done last summer in Florida, ambient temperatures of about 99-101 degrees F, and at the point of measurement, the cylinder stayed around 210 degrees.

Pretty much eliminates the need for any aftermarket modifications for cooling purposes.

But Will It Fit?

Will the G231 fit where a G23 does, specifically will it fit in a X-Cell gasser?

I'm putting the 231 in my own Xcell as we speak...Hope to fly this weekend...
I know its a strong engine, because I picked up 20lbs plus with another xcell, and flew it around
I'm also hooking up Tom's new sensor for the GV-1....Yes folks, I'm going to try to run a gov I've always taken great pride in doing the throttle curve myself, but Tom has made it so easy, I got to try it

the 231 is for all intensive purposes a drop in for the g23. I haven't seen the production throttle setup on the carb, but I suspect its close enough that other than some tuning for the throws, it should be simple to adapt. The prototypes required making some minor changes to the arm that mounts to the carb butterfly shaft.

I always ran these engines with a governor and had really good results. Always ran a fast servo with as big of a servo wheel as would fit.
