I now live in Baltimore, MD working at the University of Maryland as a cell biologist but spent 10 yrs in Indiana getting my BS, MS, and Ph.D. My father and I actually got into heli's after going to a funfly in Lafayette, IN. I've been flying on my own for 8 months now and I'd consider myself and intermediate novice Hovering is 2nd nature now (except nose-in which requires a little thought) and FF, and FFF. Pirouettes and stall turns are my only tricks for now but I feel a loop coming one soon!

What do I fly? Well , I learned on a Raptor 30 which I still fly the most. My 1st 60 was a Ergo 60 which I love but I picked-up Freya a few months ago and just HAD to get a Fury 91 Yes, I've been bitten by the heli bug! My father is in the early stages of hovering using a Raptor 30 (he has my training gear now).

Regards,
Tom

Are there any hobby shops in Illinois that are open on Sundays and carry Raptor parts? The only one that I know of is Al's but they are closed on Sundays.

Are any of the HobbyTown USA's worth trying?

I need the Tail Pitch Control Fork and 2 tail blade grip bearings.

A tail blade flew off in flight, AND, get this. The rest of the heli is in one piece. AND, I didn't auto it in either.

As for your reciever, no I don't. I don't use PCM so I don't really keep my eye out for it. But I can look if you want.

Thanks Safe, I already had there number off of ACE's site. They are listed as a Dealer but so are a lot of other shops that don't carry parts. They just order them.

I'll check them out tomorrow

Any other ideas if they don't have it?

I'll be in IL from 8/15 to 8/18

Hi everyone,
I'll be in town (LaGrange) from 8/15 to 8/18. I don't know if I'll have space to bring a heli but I'll most likely fly my father Ergo 60. I'd really like my Father to meet some heli guys as he's flying alone and we all know how much more fun it is to fly with others We plan to go to the NIRCHA field in Addison one of the days I'm home.

Regards,
Tom

Tom from what I can tell not to many people from the Addison feild are members of Runryder. If I am wrong don't take this the wrong way.

Also if you don't mind me asking, why aren't you going to IRCHA. Its the same weekend so there probably won't be to many heli guys around.

Hey NEM3,
The reason I'll be back in my home town is because my wife and I are expecting our 1st child and we have two baby showers to go to. So the 1st half of that week I'll be in Indianapolis, IN and the 2nd half I'll be in IL. I'd love to go to the IRCHA show but my wife has other plans for me ...but that's a good point regarding not many heli pilot being around.

Had anyone been to the field across from Loyola hospital mentioned on this thread? Maybe we'll go there.

Thanks,
Tom

Terry I hope you didn't take that the wrong way. Its just that I never see anyone here posting about NIRCHA. Heck I would have joined you guys club if I knew a few people. The only one I know is Mike from Al's and he is currently down.

Tom what feild are you talking about??

The only ones I know of are the one on Lagrange and 107th, the one in Addison and the one in Lansing which is where I fly.

Congrats on the new born

Really maybe I'll come out this weekend then. A few of the guys at the feild in Lansing had there heli's go in and won't be out for a while. I have been flying in the feild behind my house since then.

One question though, are you guys out there on Sunday. Saturday I got a lot of B-Day parties to go to. So sunday is my only free day.

P.S., I got my drag take offs down pat now.

Nick,
There is guys from the club out there on Sat and Sun. I will be on vacation and will not be there this weekend. Most go early around 8:00am or so. It is not a good late afternoon field as you are facing West.
