Funny you ask

In a nearby town called Westmont there was/is a field. It's between Oakbrook and LaGrange.

Truth is I havn't been in that area in 10 years so my information might be a bit off. I grew up in that area.

Go to Al's Hobby Shop in Elmhurst and they can hook you up. Also, Get to know those people. They are very friendly and have helped me a great deal.

Our club Flies at Fullerton woods, located in Addison on Grace and Fullerton Ave. Strictly heli's and you can get directions from our website at nircha.com. Very friendly people and well maintained field. Hope to see you out there. Neil

I live in Park Ridge.

I live by O'hare airport and I go to fullerton every once in a while to look in on you guys.I've never brought my heli there, maybe because I'm trying to a learn a little more before I do so I don't look so funny.I really need someone to look it over one day maybe I'll get up the gonads and have one of you guys to look at it .Every time i go to Al's Cindy finds some way of selling me something!! Any of you guys live near me?Waiting on a few parts but I should be going soon.

Best thing to do is bring out your heli and have somebody look it over and make sure it's set-up properly. Usually the best time to bring it out would be on a weekends after 10:30. Best info you can get is from fellow fliers! We all started not knowing to much about this hobby and some of us still don't but we'll at least be able to steer you to the right people that do.Stop by and introduce yourself , we consist of all levels from beginners to radical 3d pilots. The only dumb question is the one that is never asked. Hope to see you out there. Neil

Are there any other heli flyers here that live farther south in Illinois. Everyone I talk to lives up near Al's. I live in Homer Township, so driving up to Fullerton is quite a drive for me.

Yes.

There is a field off of lagrange rd around a hundred and thirty something, Can't remember the exact.Maybe 131st and lagrange.I see planes there all the time don't know about helis though.Hold on check this out.

Thanks Safe_. I was going to go there but I didn't know if they had any heli pilots. Plus I don't know how to get ahold of anyone to Join there club. I would mostly be flying during the week, instead of the weekends.

At the sight is a e-mail addy to get a hold of them.Sometimes I just find an open field away from any type of danger and have a go at it.Look for a nice old corn field or something.

another flying field

Hi NEM3, not sure exactly were you are located, but there is also field in Lansing, ILL. south east of chicago. It is fairly easy to get to, from off of I-80. Its called Thorncreek Flying Field. There is a handfull of us Heli fliers there. You know we need to stick together. If you want, email me and I will give you directions. We normally fly on the wkends, but now that the sun is out longer at nght, some of us will be flying aftr wrk!!!! Just a thought, if you want. Also you dont have to join the club to fly there, but should have AMA card.

I know one near Lagrange!

Now that you mention it, there is one near lagrange on 1st ave across from Loyola hospital on the east side of the street.It runs between 22nd (Cermak rd) and Roosevelt rd off of 1st ave.It is a large field and must have AMA card.Have fun!!
