Very nice footage! Love the "behind the scenes" stuff! These guys are undoubtedly great at what they do.

Now, not to take anything away from Flying Cam because this is great stuff, but I just want to point out the Hippocracy of some on the forums. Where are the "safety screamers" telling us how unsafe this is? I mean, did you see how many people he just flew over? He almost nailed the lady on the lawnmower too! And whoever was on the Gator - one wrong move or failure and it's all over! These people had no clue about the danger! Innocent bystanders I tell ya! Sorry...I don't like Hippocracy and double standards. Again, great stuff Flying Cam!!!

Brett - what heli?

David - cool video!

Vortex - thanks for sharing!

Agreed!

The one disadvantage of posting on a public forum..... So many "netsperts" with so little to contribute, other than criticism.
Great footage, flying and company.

I could fly inverted through that gap in the trees sideways.. It really isnt that small. They get such smooth video because they fly so fast in a straight line. Pretty cool video.

.... and they've been doing it for 30 years

....and its a 30 lb bird with a 6' rotor

.... and it's got perhaps the best alt/pos/attack hold avionics imaginable

....and the post budget on that commercial was probably $50k

.... and the director, Bill Timmer, is known for doing 50+ takes per shot

... spotters, mechanics, choreographed background, $100k/day budgets, and some of the most incredible locations at their feet.

Don't be discouraged if your footage doesn't quite look up to par with these fellas; at some point, they all had humble beginnings.

The last thing I heard my ex say: " It's either me or that damn Helicopter"......

Exactly.

Flying around a flying field in mid day light with a FlyCamOne camera and editing on Windows Movie Maker will never result in impressive footage.

It's more than just flying. Light, composition, subject, editing.

They all have to be in the recipel

I'm really surprised everyone here hasn't already seen that video 100 times. its been on their website for almost 2 years.

- that helicopter isn't much more then a bergen observer with a nice gimbal and a carvec/profi.

to be just like flyingcam all you need is.
$$$$$$$$$$
a vibe free heli (equivalent to a joker, bergen observer E, Trex700, etc.)
good flying skills
good camera operator
a good camera gimbal (you can find a few advertised right here on RR)
a carvec/profi
a good Camera and the knowledge to use it
good post production
tack / Trackhead on a few years of experience
figure out how to sell your service
and you pretty much their

...oh dont forget a slick looking ball camera housing for your gimbal and a nice body and paint scheme for the heli.

Simple. Right?

LOL

I'm going to read that short list to myself everyday just to remind me how easy this is.

That's a vario heli, so air star will be a closer match to the their heli.

But really, you can do that with most good heli in the market.

I'm faking accents on all shoots from here on out. If nothing else, the ladies like it. And we need whatever help we can get being the geeky RC people that we are.

OT - David, by that shot of your transmitter, hover was apparently at about 85% stick (maybe higher?).. I too run a higher resolution pitch curve (less negative ~1-2 degrees positive 10) but don't you run into issues with a possible need for punch out power?

Yeah, Flying Cam’s videos are really inspirational. I’ve been watching these videos for some time now. My favorite has to be “The Curse of the Golden Flower”. A lot of cool behind the scenes footage. You will see at 1:17 in that video that the head of the heli is blurred out. Kind of funny:

Hey there

Since making that video I *think* I've changed my pitch curves such that I'm hovering at centre-stick, with 0 degrees at about 1/4 stick ... at least, looking at my heli now that's how I've got it. I remember I wanted to change it from hovering at 3/4 stick because that didn't give me much resolution around hover pitch ...

Hope that answered your question
