I have a new Benzin, 720 mm blades with about 4 tanks through it and this throttle thing is nuts.So this is how I have it set up.Link is on the top of the carb.I set the carb so that it's halfway open at half throttle and +6 on pitch.I have my throttle trim tab about 4 clicks from closed At this setting the head speed was way too high at +6 at half (like 1800) .If I move the trim tab all the way to the top it takes the trottle to about 3/4 open. What do I do to lower the head speed without adding more pitch or moving my throttle setting?

1. adjust the low speed needle until I reach the desired head speed of 1500 and get a miss every 4 to ten seconds is this correct.
The needles are 1 3/8 on the low and 1 1/4 on the high.
I have no miss at all right now so I should richen the low end right?
Thanks

well

Well I went out and flew 2 more tanks.I backed the low speed off until I got the tail twitch (miss)and the trim tab all the way to the top.I have 1500 at hover but man does it seem slow.It feels better at 1650 to 1700(I know bent bolt)so back to 1500.I was having so much fun I ran out of fuel Autoed in a fueled her up and away again.Kinda had a little pucker when it flamed on me but I over came it and did my first auto with this machine. No problem.
The low is somewhere around 1.5 out now.Should I leave it this way?One more tank and the first gallon will be done.

You can always play with Linkage! ... Try backing off with the linkage a few turns - That should back off your curve, Man.. Old School

It's not the gasser that's old school, but the transmitter you're using, and the mechanical tweaking that had to be done, because of the limitations of those transmitters.

Well I have been using this radio since I started in Heli's 4 years ago it's a JR652 Not outdated just a simple 3 point computer radio.I have flown 7 other heli's on this radio without problems but since I bought this gasser it's been a little trial and error the way the throttle only moves like 8mm in total throw from closed to wide open .So the 3 point has been really tricky.I don't fly 3d so It will be alright for scale and sport flying.Later

You need to get the throttle mechanically correct before the tuning. Re-read Tom's post above.

I set the throttle up like others I closed the throttle, removed the link and made a mark at the center of the ball on a guide I made.I then moved the throttle to full and mark the center of that. The total amount is 8mm so I divided that in half and came up with half throttle at 4mm.
Does this sound right or no?

OK. But a gasser usually hovers at less than half. Is your servo arm and throttle lever the same length?

The throttle arm is 20mm and the ball is set in 18mm hole. The arm on the carb is the stock silver cresent shaped one.Not sure of the size but it looks very close in size.My throttle at hover is 18% and reaches 1500rpm at about 1/4.Does my 8mm carb travel calculation sound too small. How far does everyone elses carb travel from closed to full open? The last 2 flight I did on the machine after richening the low felt Ok.It hover where is was suppose too and had good full power climbouts,so I think I have it set right just was too lean on the low end I think.
