e-E-Sky Honey Bee- Lama- Belt CP- E-Smart > What's your highest number of flights in one day?

So how many flights have you done in a single day? I think my total is about 10 or 12 at the most but 6-8 is the usual high. I was thinking that tomorrow I might go all out and fly all day if the weather was anything like it has been for the last week. If I just run my 3 good packs, that is good for 4 packs per hour I figure. If I get my other charger in the mix or even mfcrash's charger, that number goes up. If I grab his batteries and use my old FMA packs, that brings the total to somewhere around about 10 packs an hour. Maybe I will aim for 30 packs and see how that goes. That would be a lot of flying Good thing I have a LiPo in my radio

Anyhow I will keep you all updated of my progress. Oh and does anyone want take on challenge also ... lets say over the next week? Think you can fly more packs on one day between sun up and down

My record so far is 18. That was with 3 packs and one charger. At the end of the day, one of packs had puffed. That made me wonder how many times its safe to run a single pack in the same day. The packs had been cooled and allowed to rest about 30 minutes after each run.

That has turned out to be a very unusal day and I've never even come close that number again. Typical is 3 to 9. I rarely get a full day to fly. Between the intermitant weather and other obligations, its seems hard to even get 6 packs in. We had good flying weather this morning. Overcast, and calm. By the time I was ready for pack #4, it started to rain. Hoping for another shot at it tomorrow.

Well it is looking like a nice day so far. Temp is 37F and there is no wind. Hopefully in the next hour it will be 50F and I can get started. I think I am going to run all 5 batteries including my poor abused FMA packs. I will use my Cellpro 10s only. I also think I will run the Protos also but the 2 6s batteries are going to take twice as long to charge cause I can only do one at a time.

I have four for the mini and 5 for the king, so I know there have been a few times I have used every single one. But I have never been able to fly them , go back charge them all and then fly some more. So I would have to say 9 is about my average and high.

10:30am update

Okay I have been flying for about 2 hours now and have 8 flights in, 6 in the Rex and 2 in the Protos. I have the 2nd Protos pack almost charged and after that are the 2 FMA packs and I will be full up again. I am currently taking a mental break, as that is officially the most flying I have ever done in 2 hours and I am getting fatigued both physically (from the sun) and mentally. Plus I need to let my adrenal gland catch back up

So far I have alternated what I do with the Rex packs, 1 free fly and then 1 skills. So far I have dedicated a pack each to nose-in hovering, constant toolman piros and circles starting and finishing nose-in, alternating directions. Then there were the 2 Protos packs. Okay it is official, I love my Protos!!! Wow is all I can say. The power of it is phenomenal and I have it dialed way back. The collective authority makes the Rex look like a cheap toy and the straight-line speed is amazing. For the first time ever I just flew is like I stole it. I finally enabled idle-up and have even started doing autos with it!!! It is way cool to bring it in about 4ft up, grab th.hold, flare and land. Way cool My only problem is that after flying it, the Rex was slow and tiny, and that is not a good thing

Okay time for an hour break and the back to it. Later I will try to get some video of something, probably the Protos. Oh and I think my goal for the day is 20 flights.

1:30pm update

I am at 14 flights, 10 Rex and 4 Protos. I figure right at 91min of actual flying time so far. And I had my first casualty, if you can call it that really. I was practicing autos on the Protos. I am fine with them up to about 5-6ft but higher is harder. I am sure above 20-30 ft they get easier but maintaining head speed from 10ft up is hard. I did one from maybe 10ft and I flared just a little too early, stopped the heli and then it fell about 2ft. I could do nothing but watch. It still had a little lift thought cause when it hit hard it bounced about 10in up and landed hard again. The airframe is fine but the 390g battery slid forward into the paper thin canopy and shattered the bottom out. I have found that I need to run the battery further forward that I expected and it is only held on by like 1/2"x1" of velco and then straps over that. Another spot of velco is needed. No other damage though.

Anyhow I have a video coming, not of the hard landing but of the Photos flight before the hard landing one.

Well I am done flying for today. It has actually been a long day and the wind has worn me out. My first 8 packs this morning were in perfect weather. The sun was in a great place, the temp was wonderful and there was very little if any wind. After lunch it was a different story. The wind started and held strong. It was mostly 3-5mph with 10mph gusts but at times it was 10-15mph constant, especially later. The Protos is like a kite, so it wears you out in the wind. The Rex is more effected but I have more time on it, so I do better with it. At times it was like a joke, I had to lean it 30* into the wind and give it tons of collective just to bring it back. Craziness!

So the total was 21 flights, 15 on the Rex and 6 on the Protos. Actually it was all my batteries flown 3 times each. I wrote down how long I flew each pack and added up it was a total of 135.5min of actual flight time. The things I am pleased about are the auto practice on both the Rex and Protos, hey after 20 flights you get bored and start trying new things, and my ff/fff. I guess it is not just my ff but a general loosening up of orientations. I only did one backflip on the Rex but beat the crap out of the Protos doing hard collective moves and such. I find that fills my need for speed much better than the Rex, so the Rex just did general duty today.

Anyhow I am charging everything back up right now but think maybe I will take tomorrow off

Nice work Chris. Nothing like time on the sticks to build skills. Inspired by your challenge, I tried to fly as much as I could today. But like you, the weather was a problem. Very gusty with intermitant rain showers. If it wasn't raining drops of water, it was raining down pine needles from the trees next to my yard.

I did manage 11 packs on the HBK2, total time was 88 minutes. Worked on some old stuff, some current stuff and some new stuff. Lots of figure eights in both directions, as well as plenty of Racin ovals. Re-started my backward flight work which is how I crashed the HBK2 last time. Took it slower and broke up the moves into smaller pieces. That makes easier than jumping in with both feet and finding out you don't know how to fly backwards nose-in No crashes this time and some progress to speak of.

Thanks for the mini-challenge, it got me flying more than I might have without.
