Just got back from a week in Maui and wanted to share some of the stuff I shot.

First here is a pano over the famous surf spot 'Jaws'. Really lucked out on the lighting but it was super windy. In fact after I landed a rescue helicopter (hughes 500) came in to rescue a surfer and it was being blown all over the place. Another pilot came up to me after and was amazed at how stable the joker was versus the full size heli!

Click for pano

Here is a shot of the joker out over the surfers, it was pretty cool at one point when I got low over them they all stopped surfing and were looking up at the heli trying to figure out what it was/what it was doing.

I will add more as I get them finished up

Thanks guys!

Scott, yep that is me and yes the heli was way out there. I was thinking that if it went down I would just quietly put my transmitter back in the case and head back to the condo for a mai tai

I was trying to position it above the peak action spot to try and catch some surfers catching a wave. Out of about 15 pans I got 2 or 3 that were timed correctly to show them catching the wave.

Way to go Tabb ...distract the poor surfers with your heli while the sharks close in.

Excellent pano!

Thanks guys, glad everyone enjoyed it. It was one of those times where I new the end result would be really cool but the idea of flying out so far was a bit unsettling at first.

Derek- I considered video but it was just too windy......dont think I would have come away with anything great and I only had the HC1 with me. On a calmer day I would love to try though!

That's one of the best images I've seen; and it's an incredible new perspective on the sport. Absolutely fantastic work!

Awesome job stitching that one Tabb! I can't even imagine how hard that must've been to blend with all that water. Keep it coming dude!

Tabb

you are the best! as usual!

I was just wondering how hard was the sticking with all those waves and foam...was it a long post processing work?

Wow - that's an amazing shot.

High wind, flying over water and an audience all at the same time - the pucker factor doesn't get much higher than that.

Awesome work Tabb. You just pushed the upper limit a bit further out.
